Forums - Sales - Xbox One wins Black Friday in the UK, sales double

You can get the ONE at $200 in the uk....

That is £127.

Stop talking nonsense.  The PS4 can be had cheaper than the ONE in the UK.

A minute ago you were saying it's all about the price. Now you're saying PS4 is cheaper. But isn't the X1 selling more? Surely that can't be. Must mean there is something other than price shifting all those Xb1's! I wonder if brand image, or peer pressue, brand loyalt, advertising, bundles or even gamez is shifting any.... nah doubt it :)

it used to be over £100, now its slightly more or less in some cases if you include bundled games depending on your value choices.  obviously.

But you knew that.

i'm not from the UK so I just took your word for it when you said PS4 is cheaper to that other guy. You know full well price is not the only thing selling these consoles but you're too stubborn too admit it. I've an open mind hence why I can see there are other equally as important factors. There is no 1 major thing that sells them on it's own.

The X1 taking over the UK is a no brainer. like in the US, it just needs to carry the momentum and domination will begin.

being profitable.
get the turnaround done.
increase the profit margin of the games and network division.
be prepared for the next big thing, we dont even know yet
be prepared for the tech industry changes.
keep the playsation momentum and brand as healty as right now.

only the last one is part of the "console war"

MS do too you know. There are only so many loses they can take before troubled heads start to rise. If the sales drop a lot for the first 8 months of next year the profit forcast for the system will go way down. Especially if PS4 starts 2015 with over 20M sold.

Since March this year they've been in all out firesale mode and the thing gets cheaper by the month. It's sales would wanna be better for the early months of next year but with zero system sellers you jut can't be too sure. Especially when the competitor is keeping it's ball rolling.

If one has to choose which is the MAJOR sales factor to any console it has to be the price.

I´ve been saying that since 2013 E3, it was the biggest MS error. TVTVTVgate, Resolutiongate and Yieldgate (and now Grassgate) wouldn´t have mattered if the XOne with Kinect was $399 or $449 from de begining.

news to me?
what are yieldgate (do u talk about the cobat rumor bullshit, that was nothing more than just wrong?) and grassgate?

Yeildgate is what I call the early September 2013 when MS cut in half the tier 1 countries for launch and the rumours that the XOne was suffering from fault hardware specially the APU component that supposedly got downclocked to gain bettle production yeilds.

Or this:

For everyone asking- this information is all pretty recent. Around the PlayStation Meeting the Xbox One was way behind (OS + hardware). Engineers were scrambling to get things sorted out.

It turns out, they didn't sort it out. The OS you saw was a complete and total lie. The current plan is to get the yields up, lower the clock rate, and to have enough units out for a sell out in the Fall.

For those asking how this affects performance- to be perfectly frank; it is nothing turning down features won't solve. The mass market will never notice a difference between 1080p and 900p; neither will they care about dynamic shadows / global illumination / or tesselation. Go to your PC - and turn shadows from Ultra to medium, disable tesselation, and lower the resolution to 900p; and you'll find games run totally fine.

Microsoft is purely behind and it's now time to make drastic decisions. I don't think any one is happy about the lower clocks, but no one is depressed about it either. The Xbox One is an all-in-on device; and that's how it will be marketed.

And the Thuway part we know is total BS.

Grassgate is the last week GTA V situation.

lol ofc. that applies to every company

I know there are other important factors, but price is THE major factor, nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

price is not The Major factor. it's one of The Major factors.

You're almost there Kowan, one more step! :D

Price+Multiplat Games+Exclusive Games. Those are the three main factors and it has all three of those.

A deserved win if you ask me..

Yep, apart from MCC fiasco, MS have been a lot better than Sony the last few months.

I don't think they've been a lot better but I do think the deals they are offering are just amazing right now. I don't see how PS4 can win if the prices don't go back up. At least in the UK/US. PS4 will win everywhere else.

yeah so your point may or may not stand regarding sony having their hands tied The way I see it they're goig to sell every console they can possibly manufacture this year at their current price. It is pointless matching MS because that will result in PS4's selling out before the year is over. So they will get the same total sales but way less profit. It's just smart business. MS on the other hand need to do the firesales or else they won't shift their numbers. I'm pretty sure SOny will be working on a slim PS4 the same as MS and working on cheaper PS4 models. A $299 PS4 might not be that far away from the realms of possibility especially when they are bundling 2 games for 399. But that price will depend on whether MS can slow the PS4 momentum down. If they can't thee is no reason for sony to cut the price. ]

It's also possible MS will keep selling at a high rate and Sony will keep theres.
