So now that Ruby and Sapphire have been remade, I've found myself asking a simple question. Will they also remake FireRed and LeafGreen, as the last time we saw the original games in some form was back in the GBA days, 10 years ago this year. So will they be remaking them?

I don't think it'll happen this generation, but I think it might next. I'm expecting the next generation of Pokémon to be on the next Nintendo portable, as I don't think they'll repeat what they did with Black and White. That would mean the next games to get the remake treatment would be Diamond/Pearl. BUT, since these games are also playable on 3DS, I doubt that Nintendo will feel a need to remake them yet. Meanwhile, FireRed and LeafGreen will have been unplayable on hardware since the DS Lite. Therefore I expect to see Gen 1 re-remakes in Gen 7.

No thanks. If they think that a connection with Gen 1 is needed, I doubt they'll remake a remake. And like you said, a remake of Gen 4 is kinda pointless. I think they'll do something different.

They'll remake Pokemon Stadium.

Then Pokemon Snap, Hey U Pikachu!

Then after Sinnoh is old enough, they'll remake that one.

If there's gonna be more remakes, please let them be on Gen 7. Gen 6 is trash.

Maybe they'll remake Pokemon Blue and Yellow, as they skipped those last time. They only did Red and Green.

I hope they don't remake them anytime soon. IMO I've seen enough of the Kanto region. The Red & Blue games have already been remade into Fire red and Leaf green and that was obviously all about the Kanto region. Then when Silver and Gold were remade into Soulsilver and Heartgold we saw a remade Kanto region again! I don't think there is any need to remake those games again anytime soon.

The point of FR/LG (and really all of the remakes) was to get all the pokemon you couldn't find in R/S/E. And because we already have a way to find every pokemon in Gen 6 games, there's no point to remake them. Yet.

With that said, I wouldn't mind a remake of Colosseum and XD GoD. They could add the Stadium minigames and other challenges, make a postgame where you can catch wild pokemon, and you have yourself a game. Hell, they could make them for the WiiU, and allow online play with the 3DS ones.
