Yeah but when the ps3 was out, people started saying it won't sell, it will be the death of sony, they even wrote a book and a article about PS3 failure. IN 2005 they indeed said sony would own everyone.

Well ,there has been some good japanese games released as Dynasty Warriors 6,Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ,Devil May Cry 4 ,Disgaea 3 ,Everybodys Golf 5 ...and the sales have improved when it happened .

By the way ,when MGS4 is released there the 80Gb is released with it so if the loss of BC is hurting the system there that should stop it .

I think the main problems with PS3 in Japan is price and design .Japanese are recently very price sensitive ...its difficult that a console triumphs while significantly more expensive that the competition .There are some otakus and hardcore gamers that wont care the difference in price and get it nonetheless but those are the ones getting the machine .And in the design the PS3 is too bulky and big for japanese liking .A PSthree slim would turn the tables even more that the PSP Slim there .

They can NEVER do that.  It was a stupid move by Microsoft to begin with, but at least all 360 games are playable on the Core/Arcade.  If Sony released an HDD-less model, owners would be unable to play the growing amount of games that require installation.

If Fable 2 is half as crappy as Fable was, then I hope they pretend it never happened instead of pushing it hard.

If microsoft want 360 to win europe make PES 360 exclusive. That will do so much more for sales than some GTA4 add ons ever could.

Sony is fine in Japan, following the release of - Final Fantasy Xiii/Versus, Gran Turismo 5, MGS4, RE5, Tekken 6 etc...it will outsell the Wii week in week out in Japan.

Honestly you can't compete with that line-up, I expect the Wii 2 to be out by then.

Blu-Ray will only be a temporary bump it has won the HD format wars. More manufacturers and models will be build before the end of the year and competition will drive the price down to the sub 99 dollar range with in a year. The PS3 will not be able ot keep with the price drop and at below 99 dollars many people will just buy the Game Console of their choice + a Stand Alone Player.

This is not a PS3 is doomed thread though as there is room for many more price cuts than usual and the increase of sales from these bumps plus a higher weekly rate from being at more consumer freindly pricing will keep it respectable.

I really thought PS3 will own japan. Japanese love BlueRay and i thought they would buy PS3 a lot more than they are now.

Sony made the right console, in the wrong time. If they would have brought it out last christmas it would be more successful, or at least seen as more successful. As other said, the games are finally comming, there is only one direction the PS3 can take right know: Up. While I don't believe they will catch the Wii, they will make MS a hell of a fight. The PSP has shown that the second console can sell on the Japanese market.

If Sony can bring the PS3 slim for $299 this year (and I am hoping it for them) they will have a nice winter. The Wii and the PS3 does not compete to each other directly, I don't see a problem for the PS3 to have better sales in Japan then right now. The package just has to be right, and Sony is moving in the right direction.
