If someone wants those games they would have bought a playstation or xbox anyway. This argument is flogged to death. Why would Nintendo want to impress 3rd parties when they make great hardware and great software? Why would they create a console to suit a 3rd party software developer. It's just as sensible to operate as they do.

Guess what: people went and bought PS4s and X1s, that's why Wii U isn't selling!! People are buying the competitors.

They aren't making great hardware. 3rd parties wanted RAM, more GPU power and they didn't gave any of it. And packed it with a CPU that is weaker than PS360 and is just a re-re-reshased GC CPU.

And yet the weak console has all the best exclusive games right and most of the stuff on xb1 and ps4 isn't exclusive to them and is on PC. The Wii U is different and has something different to offer. If it was the same power as the PS4, it still wouldn't sell and 3rd parties still wouldn't buy it. If Nintendo start peddling to 3rd parties, then they may as well give up and not be Nintendo anymore. Nintendo always have been and always will be the "other" console. If there were 15 consoles, they would all be the same, and Nintendo would still be "other" one, through good sales and bad. Why people can't understand that is beyond me, and why people who "hate" Nintendo, and "love" some other console, keep repeating themselves is pointless. They bought a console like a PS4 and XB1 because that's what they like. Why do they want a 3rd choice of the same?

While you raise some OK points, I'd say these two consoles say "no" to your bolded point.

I get that some people are younger here and didn't grow up with an NES or SNES in their prime, but still.

If it has the best games why it isn't selling? We need a reason. You aren't giving me a reason. I gave you an argument, you can counter it with another argument that can even make me change my mind. You aren't giving a reason to why people buy PS4s and X1s. They just buy because they like them and hate Nintendo? No. Nintendo is doing something very wrong. 3rd parties won't support Nintendo? Nintendo is doing something very wrong.

The lack of 3rd party games is Nintendo's fault. They treated 3rd parties terribly during the NES/SNES era, so they happily jumped to PS1 looking for a brighter day. And Nintendo never did anything to regain them. MS and Sony made consoles that 3rd parties liked, Nintendo didn't. Having all 3rd party games won't make Nintendo stop being Nintendo. Right now we have:

- This is the Wii U. It plays Mario, Pokemon and Zelda. But you can't play GTA and CoD.

It could be:

- This is the Wii U. It plays Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, GTA and CoD.

Nintendo highest selling 1st party titles coupled with the highest selling 3rd parties. Why is it bad? It looks awesome.

Being the "other" console just made them be absolutely onslaughed 3 times (N64, GC, Wii U) and win once (supposing PS360 can't reach 100M). It isn't the best win/lose ratio. They aren't doing good in home console.

And the bolded is wrong. NES had all 3rd party games and most were exclusive. SMS was the "other". SNES had most 3rd party games and Genesis had just some of them and were the "other" console. Ninty won both gens.

The Nintendo games still sold the best on Snes and Nes. And if Nintendo had the support of 3rd parties, and the best console, there would be no competition. It is what it is. The gaming world is a better place for it. Further, the games you mentioned from 3rd parties are all dark games. You asked why people buy ps4 and not Wii U? Because the majority of people who buy games now a days seem to like darker games. The world changes. People change. It will change again, and who knows, maybe Nintendo will be there when it does with their family friendly games, rather than the gloomy, half finished, frustrating crap I see people buying on ps4 and xb1 because a commercial told them it was cool.

its way harder to sale 3rd party gaes on nintendo systems because nintendo themself sales shitloads of games. thats the main ifference between the wii u and the ps4/xbone.   even if the wii u just sales 15m and the ps4 80m, nintendo will still sale more games...

1) Why are more people buying PS4 and XB1?

2) What do you think Nintendo could do to turn this thing around?

1) because a lot more games, a lot more variety in games, better graphics, better hardware, better capabilities, better online, more mature games etc.

2) QoL

Exactly. There are more childrens and guys who want to feel mature playing mature games, than real mature people who doesn't give a fuck about gaming.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Wii U draws critical praise from many publications. Time, Forbes, hell even Fox News is spreading the word about Wii U. It is free publicity and it is good publicity. Nintendo's biggest struggle was getting people to knock it off with the Wii U is doomed articles. Now that the Media is finally on their side they will have one less enemy to worry about. Nintendo just needs to survive this generation, and they are doing that well.

Nintendo is in a transitional phase. They are moving their developers into a new building and are consolidating their console and handheld teams and moving their support staff there as well. When they are done with the transition they will be pumping out the games at a break neck pace and Wii U and 3DS won't have the droughts they have had.

Eventually people will finally run out of excuses to not buy a Wii U and will join the party.

the idea that people are "looking" for excuses is ridiculous and childish. Its enough to simply not want the Wii U they dont even need a reason.

I'd agree with them if that is their reason. Otherwise all you hear is random excuses why they won't buy it. All they'd really have to say is 'I don't want one.' And that would end all debate.

you're spending way too much time reading what people write on forums, they dont really represent what most of the community think. If anything its really just indifference toward the Wii U for the most part. Most dont hate it, they just dont care about it.

The Reason Why Nintendo isnt doing well is simple. Right now Sony and Microsoft are having there personal war just like Snes and Genesis Were back in the 90s. I Guarentee you Microsoft took a heavy loss black friday for selling the console at the 329 price just to stay relvent with the ps4. For one thing owning Either xbone or Ps4 is consider the cool thing to have especially in america while Wii u s considered "kiddy". Also Nintendo somewhat blew there opportunity with 3rd party by making the console underpowered and hard to develop for. If Nintendo Made the Wii U a Bit more powerful and made it Developer Friendly it wouldnt have the problem it has now. Also Wii u was somewhat a bad name for the console since the Wii had a bad view on the name. I believe That if Nintendo learned from its Mistakes from this generation then they have a chance to win 9th gen since the issue of the Console power (graphics, processing etc.) its pretty much become more irrelevent as time passes. Pc gaming is slowly Taking away that glory  from Sony and Microsoft Since even those console are consider underpowered already by devs. All Nintendo Needs to do is learn from this loss. They had the Potential to win this Gen but with pour marketing, bad naming, underpowered, unfriendly to developers, and a bit of cockyness They will pretty much end up in 3rd place as far as marketshare goes. In Terms of Profitabilitaty Nintendo Profit 100% percent from there 1st party Games and are profiting for every system sold (including 3ds) so there still making there money, but they arent making as much as the could pontentially be making.

Definitely don't think Nintendo could afford Ubisoft. Maybe capcom but I'd rather they become a Sony studio. In fact Nintendo should just work with Sony
