Forums - Nintendo - Is Nintendo crazy? Why is the X1 almost the same price as the Wii U this holiday?

Because Nintendo knows they've lost the race and are just trying to get maximum profit.

I'm pretty sure they don't care about the race, but the profts. Anyway, Wii U is not doing well in the profits department.

They're not getting muchj sales or profits at that price. Nintendo console are supposed to be affordable. Families won't bite at the current price when they can just spend a little more and buy a PS4 or XB1.

Of course they do. What do you think Call Of Duty is? A casual game. It doesn't sell millions purely on hardcore gamers.

329.99?

Why wont Nintendo drop the price yet?

You know it's not just the console but the games as well.  The competition has a lot of game reduced price games as well,

As many have said before in this thread, MS can afford losses while Nintendo can't, also MS is focusing more on userbase while Nintendo is focusing more on profits right now

The people who want Amiibo can buy the more pricey gamepad bundled wii U then :)

Bundle the gamepad with some amiibo's and a revelant game aswell. Its an expensive peripheral which isn't needed,  I say let gamers decide and benefit in the process with much higher hardware and software sales.  I get Nintendo pushing it at first similar to wii remote, trying to make sure developers use it but no one is really, nintendo included. The general public have already expressed they have no interest in it, all peripherals which are worth their weight will sell as a standalone purchase, so I don't see the problem.

Its strange but suddenly it seems blatantly obvious to me, its no different from forcing Kinect on people or forcing PSVita on PS4 owners.

Gamepad is not an acessory like kinect, is the controller of the system. People have to deal with it.

What's the point? It's selling out everywhere even with the price being as it is. Even with it selling out everywhere, sales still won't be good even if they drop the price because retailers won't order enough. Dropping the price might get retailers to order more, but not enough to start competing with the other two. Best to just get as much profit as they can.

lol, but really though the systems most sought out software (Mario World 3D, New Super Mario Bros U, Mario Kart and Smash) don't even use it.

Clearly you haven't played 3D World or NSMBU, because they do use it, in fact they require it. And Mario Kart is best controlled with it as well, I've found. Smash has it as a controller option as well.

Nintendo should lower the Wii U price at least 50 USS
