Forums - Nintendo - A biased review: Shin Megami Tensei IV

I haven't played any of the previous mainline games, so I have no idea how IV stacks up compared to the rest. You mention an interesting point though; I did notice that there are demons who were hardly useful because they had such low MP.

I also didn't like the ecosystem in this game. The main way to get money is by finding relics. I don't know why RPGs would do this, because gathering resources from defeating enemies is something that works so well for gameplay. Having to go out of your way to make money feels like such a waste of time.

As for Sonic Boom, maybe I'll buy it once it has dropped in price significantly, but it looked really bad from the get-go. I think I'll pass regardless of price.

I totally forgot about the relics, I agree with that point.

Also it's worth noting that these series have 3 different endings and the "true" ending, the neutral ending has very vauge and difficult requisites, so you have to follow a guide to complete it... It makes the game kinda boring as following a guide is the worst way of playing a game.

I tried the 3DS demo and it was pretty bad. I have no idea how the Wii U version is in comparision but they might be interesting... when the price is right.
