Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft: No review embargo on The Crew... but no early review copies either.

To be honest, I think this should be the way things are.
No one should receive a game before it's released, they should just go by themselves after one if they want to review it.

*snip*

The problem with that is that we would have to buy the game to "form our own opinion". Then if it turns out to be rubbish, it's too late. And it would let shitty publishers to what they please with their strong marketing arm.

No, reviews are there for a reason. We might complain about them, but they are needed. Even if you disagree with the scores, reading them or watching video reviews helps a lot.

Or we, consumers, could be smart enough to wait 2 or 3 days for the first reviews to appear and then make the choice to buy it or not instead of rushing to the stores to get the game on the first day.

Please excuse my bad English.

Ubisoft: No embargo, but don't play it before release, alright?

This has to be one of the stupidest lines ever coming from a game developer.

So apparently this is what you do nowadays; just make it impossible for people to decide to see and beforehand instead of actually making a decent product you're proud to show off.

Company's always look the worst when they treat their customers like they can be so easily mislead -
They def are doing what made MSFT look so bad during the XB1 launch- why do they need to re learn an expensive lesson when some own else learned it for them -

No embargos, but no review copies? Which still means an embargo, right?

Not exactly, you could hijack a boat and steal a copy before it hits the mainland.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Even if you got an early copy, you couldn't play it, because it's an MMO, you can't play if the Ubisoft servers are down.

Or sneak a PS4 on the ship, take a copy from one of the cargo boxes and play it onboard. Oh wait... the game needs online.

Joking aside, if someone even managed to play the game before the release date and embargo, will the console be blocked from playing the game?

A game like this made by Ubi., and their tendancy to rush their games. As well as always forcing that Uplay enrollment with playing it. Isn't appealing to begin with. Along with this fiasco of holding reviews off and the fiasco of other titles by Ubi. this year. Usually I'm really into games like this one (open sandbox/racing) and would do a day one purchase but this one isn't going to be that way for me. I'll check the Twitch streamers playing but the game dosen't look that good from what I've seen so far from Beta. IMO

This doesn't sound good.

Seriously Ubisoft...This doesn't bode well for them.

I'm looking forward to a few games next year and two of them are The Division and RS Siege, but they keep pulling shit like this which is making me not want to get those games day one, but rather wait for reviews and user impressions.

Honestly, I won't preorder or buy games day one from now on unless they are from flawless devs.
