PS3 will never pass Wii sales for an extended period.. its not as if the market isn't aware of the PS3 and it already received all the boost it was going to get because of Blu-ray's victory. I think the PS3 will really consolidate its lead over the 360 this year though.

Do you understand, that PS3 STILL don`t have BIG BRAND hitters?

the only week ps3 ever has of passing wii sales in its lifetime is the week that gta4 comes out, but still i think its unlikely. Maybe also the week that FF13 comes out if it has a worldwide launch. Cuz that would boost of japanese sales a ton. But most likely it will never have a week better than wii.

Then a fluke would have occoured, but I think the time-space continuium is safe for the time being.

If the PS3 doesn't accidently pass the supply constrained Wii a couple times this year, I'll be surprised. 

And if Wii supply won`t finally meet the demand in 2008, i will be suprised too.

PS3 does have some great games coming out which will most likely boost it's sales.

But then Wii Fit will come out, be featured on Oprah and then, if you thought a ton of casual gamers wanted it before... that'll insure that the machine stays sold out for 1+ year at least.

Shure, doesn't mean anything for 3rd party game sales (until the kids start buying games for mom's new Wii) But the Wii themselves'll be gone.

 Japan's problem with the PS3 is not the price. They're just not into console gaming anymore ( the Wii taps into non-gamers thus the huge sales ).

Even if your scenario actually happens ( please not for just 1-2 weeks, that'll show nothing ), we're certainly in for one hell of a fight for 1st place =))))

ps3 can surpass wii ww sales for a random week due to supply issues and uneven distribution (retailers hold stock in as well as boat shipping times and nintendo's stockpiling)

but to beat it for a month, it'll have to sell over 300k/week for 4 straight weeks to have a chance...and if nintendo ups production in may/june like we predict, then the bar only gets higher

nintendo should sell over 1.5mil/month in march/april/may due to 3 big launches so less stockpiling from nintendo and retailers

What do you mean by big brand hitters? Surely Call of Duty 4 was.. Ratchet & Clank? Guitar Hero III?  What about Assassins Creed? The PS3 might be outmaneuvering the 360 but it still hasn't come close to the Wii in worldwide sales.. and with the impeding release of some of the biggest games this generation for Wii, (whose past iterations have far, far surpassed the previous iterations of Metal Gear Solid and Killzone) it looks like it will be a long while before Sony can even get close.

Then it will take 500 of those weeks, or close to 10 years before it would have passed the Wii.
