F-Zero GX, although awesome, it was probably a touch too hard to be considered 'fun', so i'd have to go with Mario Kart.

The GranTurismo series receives the rights to use cars for free in their games from the car companies. Games that do damage to the cars pay for the license to use the cars.

Of recent: Forza 2 and Project Gotham Racing 2. Gran Turismo 5 will be the best racer when it arrives full of eye candy HD GT. GT 5 Prologue will be too short better wait for full game. Unless you can download the rest of the content to get it up to full GT 5.
Best racer of all time = Destruction Derby on PS one. It was an awesome fun game loved smashing and crashing into cars .
