Well we all know that isn't true don't we? 8.5m Wii's and 12m+ DS's says otherwise.

the wii was a flash in the pan, driven by word of mouth and sheep mentallity of parents who didnt have the first clue about gaming, most of em only got used at parties imo and gathered dust most of the time.  to understand the article you need to be a child growing up in the uk in the 1980's

I'd say it's only fair they don't as much, which in itself is not entirely true. I mean some country has to balance out Japan's overfondness to Nintendo.

Pretty reasonable theories. Chuck in the negative press of the price fixing the were found guilty of in the UK and hell when I was at school, I was mocked for having a kiddy N64 instead of a cool PlayStation. Not difficult to see why Nintendo never got the same foothold here.

I think it's because in UK it's all about what's cool.

And the UK Culture.......simply thinks Nintendo is for small kids. Not cool.

I'm sure it's like that in the rest of Europe too. I didn't even know what an NES or SNES were until I started frequenting gaming forums. Till then I always assumed Nintendo64 was their first home consoles.

I can only speak for myself, but i never knew anyone that owned anything but Nintendo-systems growing up. NES was a big deal in my school

Yeah, people I know love their Wii U. I don't know...

Somone know the NES, SNES, N64 and GC number lifetime in the UK?

blame the UK tv shows they show overseas. Everything in them is dark cold and wet looking.
