Then go have fun and play your games and i will ignore the fact your posting on a website whos entires premise is to debate numbers and data surrounding the console war.

Let me try to understand your point:

So, it doesn´t matter how good XOne/MS performe if they have to cut the price and give "free" games.

Is that it?

Then, how on earth can MS "win" under your conditions?

Should they lose money building a 4K capable hardware and spend milions on untested new IPs?

Microsoft made a racitonal decision about the Xone power and features. There´s no more than can do other than have price advantage and some few big exclusives.

Or they could accept defeat and quit the console market... would that make you happy?

It aint about what makes me happy microsoft only has themselves to blame for their current circumstances. Its about the overall market either you can compete head to head with sony on a global level (not just in america), or you cant.  The answer as of this moment is not a chance in hell hence the 2*1 advantage and 48% of the total marketshare as posted on the front page, and as i said earlier if they can't find a way to turn it around then thats on them, but lets not pretend this is a real competition if its not...thats all im saying.

Man this is so sad this is what passes as good news for the xbone relative to the ps4. They might win an npd in nov and or dec at best, and a few weeks in the uk which is a tiny fraction of the overall european markets total numbers. I guess whatever makes people happy enjoy these small victories cause after the holidays its just gonna go back to the way it was the first 10 months except microsoft will eventually run out of price drops and free games to artifically boost their sagging numbers.

Is there a point to this downplaying? Its pretty sad.

Yep sounds like a few people here are upset as they were expecting their console of choice to cruise over the finish line unchallened.  And given the amount of resources MS have poured into their most recent effort to reinvigerate its competitiveness in the consiole race (just beacause they can) it seems to have made some folk even more itchy...

If after all they have done they cant win consistantly globally then its not a reinvigoration.  Its just losing by less for a small seasonal period, and then regressing back to the mean.  Which after the cuts and holidays is the scenario that will most likely happen if not i will admit i was wrong, but i wouldnt bet on anything close to a comeback not with the margins we have seen thus far in the US let alone europe and japan.

So, what do we know for sure for XBO?? 4mill in USA and 1m in UK, 5 mill in those markets alone. So according to VGC we have 1'7m in the rest of the world (counting the rest of Europe and the new markets where it launched a few months ago). Considering Microsft already said that they're almost at 10m shipped, and the fact that is holiday season (so maybe around 2m shipped units before BF), this seems to confirm that XBO should probably be nearing 8 mill sold right now probably, around 1m undertracked here.

If that number (near 8m sold right now) is true, XBO will sell more than 10m units before 2015, around 4m, maybe even more, the last quarter of the year.

Ahahah. No.

Xone is the same (or even worse) than 360, US + UK is their major markets. It don't sell at all in germany, same for France, belgium, Italy, Spain, Japan, etc. And Uk is probably 50% of Europe Numbers for the Xone, at least.

At most the One is a 7 million now (if we count 170k undertracked in the Uk...but it's currently overtracked by 100/170k in the Us so...) , and they're still not at 10 millions shipped, they will "soon" (Days ? Weeks ? Months ?)

If Amazon UK is anything to go by, this is not true.

November ranks:
#38 XB1 + FIFA
#39 PS4 + COD
#65 PS4 + GTAV
#77 XB1 + COD + Forza 5
#79 PS4 SKU
#87 PS4 + FIFA
#92 PS4 + Destiny

You need to check the weekly ranking.

Ok, but I assumed if they're saying XB1 beat PS4 for three weeks in a row, then the November numbers should show XB1 > PS4.

When you have MCV giving you numbers, Amazon UK isn't much of a trump card to prove them wrong.

The way you say theres no more they can do and its true. Theres nothing they can do to win, world has deemed PS4s features and power is what they want not X1s.  Looking at things openly, given what it took for X1 to out sale PS4 for a week or two.  It is really damming any chances for it ever to even come close to a win.  Lets be honest, spending millions on untested IPS would have been a 100 times better then spending the $ on that joke NFL deal.

X360 sales in USA and UK were around 60-65% of total global sales. 5 million USA+UK from 7 million globally would be arou nd 70% of the sales. Considering XBO is doing worse than its predecesor in the rest of the markets...., what you're saying is possible.

But look, I'm what most people here consider a PS guy, I'm more tired of Microsoft PR's spins than anyone else here, but I still think that VGC is not tracking well new gen consoles, XBO included, in Europe and the rest of the world. When Microsoft says they're almost 10m shipped I already thought that maybe they were referring total shipments before 2015, but I want to think Microsoft won't have the balls to spin the numbers THAT MUCH and they're really nearing that number as of today. And if that number is indeed true and XBO is around 9'5-10m shipped, there can't be 3 mill on shelves right now, that's too much in my opinion.

But who knows, I'm not as confident in my XBO predictions as my PS4 ones, and maybe Microsoft is really spinning again. To know real numbers we'll probably need to wait until January....
