What's wrong with the Character models? I'm not worried too much about graphic Xenoblade was the best game of the 7th generation IMO and that's with shitz Wii Graphic.

Spring has been confirmed for Japan, TBA 2015 for the west. IF Nintendo started localising now they could have it out in spring/summer.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they were already doing that to have a world wide launch within a reasonable timeframe. Especially after the previous games localization increased total sales by 4X! (Probably more but going by VG #'s)
