Right. That explains the media's love affair with Mario and Zelda. I gotcha.
Seriously. I know you hate IGN, but that statement was just stupid.

IGN hyped up No More heroes quite a lot, too, but he covers that by saying "the nintendo team" as if everyone else on the website should be covering not only their section but Nintendo as well.
And to add. 1UP thinks that before this year, the PSP didnt have good games. IGN couldnt recall a memorable PSP game.

They hate Nintendo and portable gaming.
Oh, they hate Sony, too, because Lair was awesome.
@ windbane
Not to add their Z&W campaign they started!

No FishyJoe...its non-possible, not unpossible...lol sheesh...
Oh and windbane, outlawauron, relaaxx...you are right, it isn't the job for IGN or 1UP to love all Wii games nor is it the job for each section of IGN and 1UP to know and cover games for other systems, but neither is it their job to unfairly judge games they don't know very well. One IGN podcast had members from the other console sections and the topic came up about SSBB. Of course, they came up and said straight out that they didn't like it. Fair enough, its their opinion. But to not like it and actually not know what they are talking about, is a bit irresponsible. Yes, they are entitled to their opinion, but if you are being paid to give opinions to fellow gamers of what game to play or not, you better damn well know what you are talking about.
I guess this is the trouble people have. Reviewers are in the end giving their opinion and we just have to understand that. But what ticks people off sometimes is the fact that the reviewers are being paid to their job, yet sometimes don't know what they are talking about....or sometimes it is evident that they haven't really paid much attention to the game, ie. an episode of X-Play where they reviewed Mass Effect. They criticized the game because they didn't know how to use the grenades and that it blows up "randomly." If they played long enough they would have realized that you hit the "back" button once to send the grenade, and a second time to actually blow it up.
It's okay to not know everything in the world about videogames, but it is inexcusable to act like you know enough to pass judgement on a game when it is your job to pass judgement.
Although I do not believe their is a bias (in the way people think) against the Wii from most websites/magazines, I do believe there is a built in bias against a lot of the games on the Wii because of the types of people who become videogame reviewers.
Videogame reviewers (for the most part) are dedicated gamers with very limited training in journalism or in how to perform an unbiased critical evaluation of a product within a medium. As a result their reviews are more often based on their emotional reaction to a videogame than on a critical evaluation of the videogame. Now, if you have similar tastes to a reviewer and you're looking for a recommendation about a game from this reviewer this isn't a problem; unfortunately, many Wii games are trying to appeal to people who have drastically different tastes from these reviewers.
GT is on Spike and it's a crap show on a crap network IMO just not as shit as everything on that shitfest G4.
Both Spike and G4 are very similar
@ Happy Squirrel
I agree 100%. People who review games aren't much more than respected and trusted gamers. (You wouldn't hear any bad language or crude humor on CNN or Fox).
But, I do enjoy that aspect. Mostly cause I enjoy laughing.
I posted the entire article (as well as link to source) to generate discussion.
I posted the title the way I did because it really seems as it some people don't get the Wii.
I am not saying the Wii is for everyone. But there are some gamers who want the Wii and nothing but the Wii. But these are not the "core" demographic of Spike or G4 -- or the traditional "hard core" gamer. But to make a blanket, unqualified statement is just not smart. (Unqualified here means without a qualifying descirptor -- like to the people who watch this show, who follow GT, etc.).
