I don't envy Naughty Dog's position.
I think this is just Naughty Dog saying that they have their goals and the whole series still has a long way to go in order for them to get it where they want. People are assuming that this will be the last Uncharted game in the series, I don't think there's really any concrete evidence for that. Just because this game is called "A Thief's End" that doesn't mean Drake is the "Thief" in the title, it could easily be about Sully, a story about the end of Francis's journey or some nemesis of Nathan's.
It doesn't even have to be about death of anyone, it could be the end of Nathan Drake as a treasure hunter, but future games could introduce his Son or a Daughter and Nate could evolve into a more Sully like father or uncle figure.
IMO Uncharted 4 will definitely be out next year some time, because Naughty Dog hasn't said otherwise, it's taken longer than any past game in the series to release and all of the games from Uncharted 1 to 3 were developed for much more difficult to work on hardware than PS4.
Seems like any chance that the haters can get to downplay one of the biggest franchises in gaming and they latch onto that, because it's an exclusive on Playstation. The title of this thread needs to be altered, because it's false advertizing.
This is 2015 title but they are talking about the realism in character models and more is still years away so we might see another one as well in future at the end of PS4 life between their new IP.
So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.
PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.
Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.
Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.
I'm sure this game will come out in a reasonable time frame. If their time/resource optimization is half as good as their engine optimization, we've got nothing to worry about.

Not sure what you're implying. If you think that that scene was gameplay...well...lol? The polygon counts were way too high (his *stuble* is modeled out), the texture resolutions were through the roof, and the sand deformation was way to precise to be anything that happened in real time. Also, they said "this was captured on a Playstation 4" which is conspicuously not the same statement as "All footage captured in game" or "Take a look at how the game looks on screen." They didn't avoid using the word "game" by accident.

The Last of us was the first game they ever delayed.
1080p, 60 fps, graphics that will blow us away. Good luck Naughty Dog.
