Forums - Gaming - Xbox One sales in 2015?

How much will the Xbox One sell WW in January 2015?

Less than 200k 56 38.36%

200k - 400k 39 26.71%

400k - 600k 22 15.07%

600k - 800k 10 6.85%

More than 800k 17 11.64%

Total:144

The Xbox One is experiencing a very sharp spike in sales these past 2 weeks! No doubt the $50 price cut and games like Sunset Overdrive and Halo MCC are what caused this.

However, we don't know what this means for 2015, when it (possibly) goes back to its normal $400 price tag. This, combined with a relative lack of big titles for early 2015, means we could see an equally sharp drop in sales at the start of 2015.

So what do you think? Will the Xbox One's sales plummet in January? Or will it keep this momentum? Do you think MS will make the $50 price cut permanent?

If the price goes back to $400 then sales will tank (like when they went from $450 back to $500), so I don't think the price will go back up, or if it does then they will soon find themselves forced to cut it again.

Sales will be weak since XB1 doesn't have any exclusives dated in the 1st half of 2015.

The pricecut is for the holidays only apparently. Most likely after that they will have $399 with a bundle.
I dont think early 2015 will do well for xbox relative to ps4 since it's pretty much evolve vs bloodborne and the order

PS4 never had any exclusives in August or September, yet it still had strong sales.

Exclusives aren't everything.

Because that's PS4.  PS4 gets more advantage from multiplatform releases, and there are a lot of them coming in early 2015.

There is little reason to get an XB1 beside exclusive XB1 games.

Yeah, PS4 gets more advantage, but that doesn't mean that Xbox One gets nothing from them.

I'm not saying it will get no sales, I just said sales will be weak.

Fair enough. Although there do seem to be a lot of people that claim multiplats don't boost Xbox One at all, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Do you have some good examples?

I find it hard to tell since XB1 has had some kind of special event in all months that it got boosted.

Jan - 260k
Feb - 250k
March - Titanfall boost 431k
Apr - tank 195k
May - tank some more (Watchdogs month) 149k
June - Kinectless SKU boost 306k
July/Aug - steady 223k/229k
Sep/Oct - launching in more territories boosts 756k/451k
Nov - Price cut, bundes, trade-ins, SO, Halo, holy
special events Batman!

About as much as in last January?

x1 is doomed in 2015! :-p

Praise the One.

I guess we will see a repition of the 360 sales. Not good, not bad during the year, comes holiday sales will see a huge spike.
There were many threads last gen which concluded a PS3 massive lead because of sales throughout the year but 360 had its highest sales towards the end of the year and so won back a lot of what PS3 gained in lead.

Obviously sales will drop for all platforms, but if this price cut really is temporary i expect a pretty large drop for the XB1
