So do you guys think that Smash for Wii U will have more pre orders the week before it releases than Mario Kart 8? Here's the current standings.

As you can see, Mario Kart 8 had a strong fourth place with a boost of 47,191 pre-orders, coming to a total of 279,054 before the game launched. Now let's look at the most recent for Smash.

November 1st 2014:

Now granted this is 3 weeks before it launches but the numbers honestly aren't super far away. As of November 1st, they've had a 79,736 difference, but I am expecting the gap to shrink weekly. Another interesting thing that may make many disagree with me is that Mario Kart's pre orders grew more rapidly, but I'm thinking the week before Smash pre-orders will probably jump 50k-55k, and probably Smash pre orders will be over 300k. That's my personal prediction, as I forsee many more pre-ordering Smash. IAlso I think quite a few may skip the pre-order since they will either download it or are waiting for bundles, Christmas season, and so on.

The fact that its not already passed is pretty facepalm and imo continues to show how wrong vgc pre-order chart really is... MK8 launched during summer vs SSB is launching during holiday and the fact that it doesn't already have more pre-orders by now doesn't make any sense to me considering how close it is to launch

I think Smash will end up having more pre-orders by quite a bit. Just in my area in Michigan, all of the GameStops and my local Best Buy are sold out of the $99 Smash bundle, before it's even out. So that has to count for something.

Yeah that's why I said some may be waiting. My local GameStop's have been out since mid-October

Pre orders here are not the most reliable, and they don't necessarily indicate the success of a game, especially for Nintendo.

Granted, I am one of those pre-order numbers.

I thought Nintendo games were like low on pre-orders, compared to other games, but high on life time sales. Either way, I think Smash will out do MK8 in sales.

Hopefully smash does 1-1.5M on Wii U. I feel that alot of people held out on the 3DS version so there should be a substantially greater amount for US on Wii U.
