PS3 above Wii U. Did PS3 sale more than the Wii U in November and December last year?

Yes it did.

November 2013
PS3: 923k
Wii U: 465k

December 2013
PS3: 1.3m
Wii U: 1.1m

If this happens again this year, the Zelda team should really think of pulling a Twilight Princess release with Zelda U. It's the Wii U's 3rd holiday sale and it still can't sale more than a last gen console.

Don t worry ps3 is 60% down...Also i think adjustments brought ps3 behind wii u eventually!

Wait a min... can someone help clear this up for me.

  • VGC tracking has the PS4 at 12.6M sold as of the end of October. That means according to VGC there are currently at least 2M PS4s ON SHELVES
  • Where as every other console has no more than 1.5M consoles on shelves. According to VGC tracking.

Have you seen the PS4 box? It's tiny! You can easily fit more of them on the shelf. Also it's quite a thin box so it can be placed on the smallest shelves and between other stuff easily.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

wonder will a PS3 price cut early or mid next year help the PS3 ahead of the Wii U for 2015.

so, second week of bayo helped wii U better than first?

  • As at the end of september 2014, sony had shipped a total of 13.5M PS4s worldwide.
  • So sony is (which coincides with some rumors earlier this year) has been shipping around 1.1M consoles per month.
  • So its safe to say that at the end of October, a total of around 14.6M PS4s had been shipped at least. Cause typically everyone starts ramping production and shipping up in october to meet the increased demand of the holiday season. But lets assume none of that happenned and sony still shipped only 1.1M average.
  • VGC tracking has the PS4 at 12.6M sold as of the end of October. That means according to VGC there are currently at least 2M PS4s ON SHELVES
  • Where as every other console has no more than 1.5M consoles on shelves. According to VGC tracking.
  • So basically, the best selling console for the past 12 months is seemingly having the hardest time selling its shipped hardware
Please, and this is a sincere question so I would like someone who knows more about this stuff to help me understand why. Is there something extremely wrong with the PS4 tracking? Like something is just very very very fundamentally wrong with how the PS4 is tracked here at VGC. That's why as of the time when sony announced they had sold 10M consoles VGC was undertracking the PS4 by as much as 1M consoles. Is it just getting worse? Cause these numbers just doesn't make sense at all. I can even come up with a possible scenario by which these numbers make sense.

I'm new to vgc and I'm curious about this as well. I thought it was pretty established that PS4 was at roughly 13.5 million a couple weeks ago. If that's true (apparently it is), there's NO WAY these numbers are anywhere CLOSE to accurate. How are the vgc numbers calculated, guessing combined with nothing?

....really?

Decently.

Not great or good, but not terrible either for the Wii U. It is rated M!!!!!

And it's supposed to do a million isn't it? ;)

Looks like there's still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Wow, those PS4 numbers are incredible! I don't understand how its selling so well.
X1 did good but it did have $349 bundle as well.

Let me go search for my prediction and see if I ever said it would do a million. Sounds crazy. 500,000 sounds safer. It deserves a million though.

I meant that's the goal of that whole OperationPlatinum thing, looks like a far off goal at the moment. 500k should happen.

it's the same reason ps4 is selling 2:1 xbox.  i went to the store and ordered 2,000 In^3 of ps4 and didn't realise i bought 2 systems until i got home.

BTW anybody is feeling DOWNGRADE adjustments in the PS4 numbers???

This is what I'm suspecting. The current PS4 numbers are too low in my opinion, especially in context of the total shipments announced by Sony's last quarterly report.

Don't know why VGC do it.  Global for PS4 should be higher, and also the weekly ending 1st Nov looks a bit too low.
