42 was one of the very last notable games of the 5th generation, but could be viewed as a peripheral for another set of games.

... Donkey Kong 64?

Hey! I guessed your game Trucks! Sure it came after a lot of non-guesses but I got there in the end...just about.

Anyway as a few people pointed out, #42 was indeed PullBlox. There's something quite whimsical and deceptively simple about a game which involves just pulling blocks out of a wall, and yet it works.

#41's main character was my avatar when this game launched. Yeah, it isn't always a dog!

Hint #2: There's plenty to keep you busy in this otherwise short title. If you like hitting people with crossbows, this is the game for you. If you've got some free time, why not kick back at the arena? Alternately, if you're a sadist then there's always the humble banana peel...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Hint for my #41:

The 2nd game in a franchise with one of gamings most iconic characters.

Could it be... Megaman 2? Or maybe Super Mario Bros 2?

Nah... I was kidding. Halo 2 or Uncharted 2.

Back when games weren't just shades of grey and brown

Ah yes. They were shades of red, green and sometimes yellow. Those were the days... Just kidding of course (or maybe not...).

Anyway, never heard of it. I'm seeing here it came out on every single home computer of the time apparently, but it doesn't look "open world"...

Well, the objective was to collect 9 artifacts that would be randomly placed at the start of each game. You were free to travel anywhere in the game and had teleporters and flying platforms. This was the world map:

This looks pretty cool .

No to all of them, although your last one was the closest guess so far...

*gasp* It's Crash Bandicoot 2!

The hint for the game #41: It's the second installment of a defunct franchise from a defunct publisher but a developer that's pretty much alive, releasing a game from a popular franchise last year.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

(if I get this right I should get an award for most extreme random guess ever)

Wrong, but nice try.

I'm going to make a super wild guess and say... Red Faction 2?

Oh yes! I searched games from THQ and saw the Red Faction series. I knew the games but never searched for them on Wikipedia (I also never played them ), so I gave it a go. I found out that Voilition made the PS2 version and they did a Saints Row game last year!
