43. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

The black sheep of the Metal Gear Solid (sorry Portable Ops!) series. This game gets a lot of flack for the bait and switch of Snake to Raiden. Although if you acutally read the manual, Raiden is mentioned to be the only character in the Big Shell chapter but nobody reads those. Mechanically, MGS2 is much improved from MGS. You have first person aiming now, you can walk quietly and hold up guards. The AI is greatly improved too. The bosses are all fun and unique in their one ways, although sadly there are very few of them. The storyline explored themes like memes, censorship, postmodernism and generally just blew your mind. The AI is great in this game especially for 2001. So, why is it so low on the list? Well to be honest I am not the biggest fan of the Big Shell, the rooms were too narrow and it all kind of felt the same. Towards the end of the game it also feels very rushed, everything just kind of happens at once and kind of messes with the pacing when you realise you spent a third of the game spraying timebombs around the Big Shell in the end to fight ONE boss, who was not even a major villian. Also swimming, it sucks.

Hint for 42: Same world, new adventure.

43. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
3DS (2013)
Nintendo EAD 2

The Animal Crossing series is one of the most unique and divergent series in all of modern gaming. If you explain the concept to another gamer I'm sure you'll get a very strange look. Decorate your house! Go fishing! Dig up some fossils! Befriend your neighbors! Design clothes! Sounds like a blast right? Well, in it's own unique and charming way, it really is. There's no greater goal in the series. No big endgame waiting for you to strive for and then watch the credits roll. Just... a day in the life of a villager in the quiet and quaint village of ______ (insert the name of your town here). Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the newest entry into the series, and it also breathes in new life thanks to giving the player more control over his/her city as its Mayor (with the help of the adorable assistant Isabelle). Each day offers something new to discover or collect. Long after the grand adventures and epic quests are over, and the credits roll for other games, I'll still find myself heading back to my home in Animal Crossing.

Hint for #42 (No cheating :P):

This game reminds me of Khuutra (). But other than that,  this is the last main entry in the series to be created in a beloved style. It has recently gone on to live in the shadow of a god.

Our hints are just too awesome.

Deal with it peasants!

You're saying that the guy with the Knuckles avatar has S&K at #42?

Yup. Battletoads in Battlemanics, for the SNES.

OH yes! Never tried that one... And I think I'll never do... The original Battletoads on the NES left a sour taste in my mouth, I was never able to beat past the fourth level.

In my defense... Kuuhtra looks a lot like Knuckles! They are both red!
