#44 - Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (Nintendo, 1994) - Game Boy
Like I said before: this game is virtually tied with Aladdin. My brother had the original Game Boy, and when I got a Game Boy Color, he gave his GB games to me - among them, Wario Land (there was also Super Mario Land 2, where Wario makes his debut as the villain. Great game, not on the list though). I've beaten this son of a bitch even upside down, finding all the treasures, and getting the best ending. It's a lot more slower-paced than Mario game. For instance, Wario can't run, he can only do this "shoulder attack" to go somewhat faster. The "Mario Land 3" subtitle was obviously just added to increase sales. Perhaps nostalgia is the main reason this game is on the list - hell, next year it might not be here at all - but I have a lot of great memories with this one.

God Of War...?
Smeags said: 44. Rock Band 3 By the time Rock Band 3 had released, I was already familiar (and a huge fan) of this newest sensation in the video game world. And the "rock band" genre deserved every sale it got. Unique gameplay elements, focus on local muliplayer fun (which anyone could pick up and play), great music, and fun customization options really made you feel like a real rock star. Unfortunately, Activision and EA saw this incredibly fun new hit as a way to make as much cash as possible, instead of nurturing and treating the genre with respect like it deserved. But before it all crashed and burned, Harmonix gave us the greatest of them all in Rock Band 3. Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, and now the Keyboard gave us even more options to rock, and an amazing lineup of music (made even greater by the vast online store) made it so everyone could have their favorite song to rock out to. Like many rock stars and bands, the "rock band" genre was gone far too soon, but the mark it made will not be forgotten. Raise your goblet of rock and salute! |
My only experience with the genre was Guitar Hero 3 - which I actually played with a traditional controller. I've always wanted to play with the drums in Rock Band. Oh well, someday I'll finally be able to.
And I wouldn't blame EA on this one. We only got 3 main Rock Band games and 5 spin-offs: one of which was on a handheld. Activision on the other hand MILKED THE CRAP OUT OF GUITAR HERO. DJ Hero, BAND HERO (what the fuck was the difference again?)... Not to mention, DLC support for Rock Band was pretty damn strong as far as I know.
And as for you #43... I don't know, The Beatles Rock Band? =P

Nope. You're pretty far from the answer actually.

Oh wait... Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Fine!
EA escapes my wrath... for now. *narrows eyes*

Gonna be honest, I never played a single minute of AC in my life. I only guessed it because I just so happened to realize your list on the official thread already has the platform, year of release AND metascore for every single game =P
Maybe it's supposed to be a "hidden cheat code" I shouldn't be revealing...? I'm ruining the fun here.

Hah, no worries. It honestly helps me out what game is next for me.
And I bet you couldn't guess what my favorite genre of gaming is...
