Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Discussion Thread! *Greatest Games Event 2014* (The Top 500 Games Will Now Be Chosen)

The moment is there, we've had 49 great games. Before I'll post a hint for the #1, I'd like to take a moment to mention some other games that are also amazing in their own right, but couldn't make the list because, let's face it, 50 places isn't enough to mention them all!

After those, the moment is finally there! Can't believe it's already time for the #1 game. Time flies I guess. For the Gold trophy;

Game #1

I'm not original. What is traditionally considered the best game of all time, is also mine.

#2 - The best platform level and world design ever made. A game like the others in the top 5 that stands the test of time so well it doesn't actually age at all. The Galaxy is at peace.

Super Metroid

You got it.

You got it.

Best intro ever. "The last Metroid is in captivity... the galaxy is at peace."

2. Sonic Adventure 2. Despite the hate that the 3D Sonics get, this game is still almost perfect. A wide variety of missions even in the main game, and unlike many, i enjoyed the running, treasure-hunting, and mech segments equally (only part i didn't like was the kart racing). Add on four extra missions for each stage, boss rush mode, and an entire virtual pet game on top of all that. Add in a rockin' soundtrack and solid story, and you have something truly awesome.

What always made this game stand out in my mind is the final reward: a truly fitting re-rendition of the Green Hill Zone, something to really strive for and something i wish all other games had: a real reward for 100% completion beyond a mere pat on the back (or less, in the case of some games).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Did you play Dust an Elysian Tail ?  Pulled off a lot of great aspects of Metroidvania really well.  One of the better Super Metroid clones I have played in a long time.  Guacamelee was pretty good too.

Okay, so it's time.

Game 1 - A legend from over 11,000 years ago is now again alive, and you my friend, need to put it to an end once and for all, but one thing at a time, as you are just a oblivious guy who are into a personal quest for revenge.

(I need to add that I'll never forgive anyone who go wrong with this one)

It's Ocarina of Time.
