This last-gen game branched into two separate entries that, while having different protagonists, it was on the same setting.

Second hint for the #30: One of the highest rated games ever, yet tons claim is very overrated.

Vice city?

Vice city?

Wrong game, correct franchise.

Vice City Stories?

Not that one, but you're close.

I can only thing of IV then, but I then don't understand the "two separate entries" ò.o

You are correct with GTA IV. With the two separate entries, I was referring to The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

31. New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo, Wii U, 2012.

To me, it's the one 2D Mario that comes closest to World (sue me, 3 has never really set my heart on fire), with a more dynamic overworld than the other NSMB games, as well as more inventive boss battles and a truly challenging final world on par with the Bonus Area of World.

Number 30 was the beginning of this convoluted saga, even though it is the most recent game to appear on consoles. A new entry will hopefully appear next year.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Your wording made it sound like there were two different games; not three, two whom were born after the first one

And you were correct about Max Payne 2!

Looks like I'm ridiculously far behind thanks to Dragon Age Inquisition.

Anyway, Clues:

41. A cross gen game published by a company that seems to be doing everything to be the most evil in the industry.

40. This girl only plays for sport, and needs a big park.

39. Fe, a boxer and the power of 3.

38. You'll find you will wander around in this game and find a lot of agro.

37. Arguably, one of the biggest and last exclusive titles of the previous gen.

36. Approx. 4 years post-release before we could finally lift some trophies.

35. "Did I mention I'm a god now?".... "You may feel less like fighting after I pull of your head!"

34. The main character shares the same name as a fictional TV chracter who keeps having the worst day of his life. Oh, and the game features numerous bombs.

33. The humble beginnings of a now way over-the-top, annual franchise.

#41 - Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag?

Yes

#39 - Punch-Out?

Nope

#38 - Shadow Of The Colossus?

Yes

#37 - The Last Of Us?

Nope, it's a well established franchise rather than a new one

#35 - God Of War 2?

No, the phrases I took were meant to be a bit of a red herring. Completely different genre.

#33 - Call Of Duty?

Yes
