You do realise they are both exclusives right? How can one destroy the other? And say what you want but I like the score mechanics, if you know your combos you can chain into kills. Its what sets it apart from Smash.

I do realise. It may be better to save face by not producing a mascot game which is far inferior. Can the PS4 support more than 4 controllers? Even if they managed to go above and beyond to flesh out Battle Royale with more game modes, characters etc. it would most likely still fall short when compared to 8-player Smash.

My issue with the score mechanic is that most of the time spent playing serves only as filler, building up that super meter. Every hit in other fighting games weakens the enemy to some degree. Getting down to 2 fighters in a stock match in Batle Royale is a real yawn fest.

But you can drain other people's metre by hitting and throwing them. lol

And the opponent can do the same. Instead of getting the opponent closer to death, you take them farther from killing you. Similar-leveled opponents can back-and-forth all day in a stalemate.

Assuming, of course, that a sequel was planned and/or in development.

So, do you think Sony were planning a sequel? And if so, how do you think the latest Smash Bros. announcement has affected these plans?

I personally wouldn't mind Sony having another crack at the genre, as long as they fix up that awful scoring game mechanic.

Why your bowser be stuck?

Tbh I wish sony would come up with something on its own.  Let PSASBR rest in peace.

Dont do stuff that already exists and change the ingredients. Innovate at least a little. Do a top down fighting game or whatever. its still a fighting game but its at least kinda innovative. Or do a multiplayer ZenoClash type of brawler with first person view etc

(and before the horde comes at me because I said "innovate" GOW=DevilMayCry-vania, Uncharted=TombRaider, GranTurismo=Racing game, Little Big Planet Karting=Mariokart, PSASBR=Smash. Killzone=ScifiShooter)

Sony does have some kinda unique stuff yes (LittleBigPlanet, and TLoU to some extend etc) but alot of devs like Media Molecule made their games like LittleBigPlanet before when they were independant ant NOT YET part of Sony.

Nintendo has  smash
Capcom has PowerStone
Then there is wrestling games
and StreetFighter type of games
Sony needs its own thing.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was the least of PASBR problems.

Of course, I never played it. Just learned how to talk from my ass. Now I can't stop.

Man.. now I have to think about your ass all day.. thats one fine ass..

*in Isaac Hayes voice*

You damn right.

Nope, that game destroyed its own chance of a sequel. If you are going to shameless copy something, do it right at least.

I liked that they tried to think outside the box, and do their own thing. It was just poor execution.

Though if they just outright copied Smash Bros it would have played better, but I would have disliked it for being a complete ripoff.

There's just no pleasing some people :P

No it even raised the chance of a sequel. Since Sony copies everything from Nintendo :))))

PSABR is guaranteed a sequel. Port the old game add a few characters up the res and framerate(like Nintendo). It cant be too expensive and helps recover from any losses the original may have taken.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Uhh...

So Smash is it's own thing, Power Stone is its own thing, and Sony needs its own thing, but a massive clump of "Street Fighter type of games" is okay for them to copy off each other?

Does not compute.

I wanted PSABR to be good, but the fighting mechanics and knocking people out was nowhere near as satisfying as SSB. I would have much preferred an absolute rip off as everything they altered made it worse. I also want Crash and Spyro given Nintendo managed to get Sonic and Mega Man!
