TLOU is one of the most overrated games of all time. People confuse the amazing story and characters for being an amazing game. But I'm sorry, that's not what makes an amazing game, but rather an amazing movie or book. Games should be first and foremost about the gameplay, and TLOU does nothing special there. In fact it even borders on boring in the gameplay department. The first 3 Halo games are far more fun to play, especially from a multiplayer standpoint. And Halo's characters and story are probably some of the best ever in a shooter, even thogh they're certainly not TLOU level.

By the way, Bioshock Infinite is the game that should have gotten all the attention TLOU did. They were released the same year, except Bioshock had the whole package. The characters, story, and the gameplay. And Infinite's story was better than TLOU's on top of all that.

The best part of TLOU is the gameplay... it is ahead characters and story but people just remember the story while the critic use good part of the reviews to say how the gameplay shines in the overall package.

TLOU gameplay is to notch to today standards... hell there is no gameplay better in the last generation... if you played the MP (where is focused only in gameplay without be offusced by story) you will know that.

I played TLOU two and a half times trying to see where this "amazing gameplay" comes in. Sorry but it's not there. It's very run of the mill gameplay that gets old quick. If people weren't so enraptured with the Joel and Ellie characters and the amazing visuals they'd quickly notice how little the rest of the game has to offer. It's easily Naughty Dog's worst in the gameplay department and a huge step back from the Uncharted gameplay.

Halo 1 - 97
Halo 2 - 95
Halo 3 - 94
Halo 4 - 87
Halo 1-4, all upgraded, all the multiplayer maps all graphically updated andrunning at better framerates and resolutions on a much better server platform than they originally did - 87.

How does this make sense, at all? How can you take three games all over 94, a forth that got 87, strap them all together with updates, upgrades and better performance, and ship them as one complete package for the price of a single game, and still only get 87?

I don't even like xbox, and I actually don't particularly like the Halo series either, but this is bullshit.

Ask anybody to reviews these olds games again to see if they will receive the same score... gameplay evolutes over the years... games made in 2000 didn't play well compared with games made in 2010.

Ocarine of Time won't be rated 98 today too.

The core gameplay is dated.

I really don't get how a huge collection of 4 games all with a fresh coat of paint and new features, of which the lowest scoring game was an 87, only gets an 87. Especially with TLOU:R getting a 95 despite barely being any different than the original that released a year before it. I swear some of these reviewers are just way too biased against MS right now. This is the third great X1 game in a row that has been too harshly reviewed. You'd think critics would be grateful that X1 is actually delivering some great exclusives while PS4 has nothing to offer there.

Well maybe TLoU is just superior (it is) to even a collection of average shooters.Halo does not have great characters, gameplay, story or concept like TLoU.They are all enter changeable with nothing new or exciting being added outside of bigger maps.Really.Also it's your untrue opinion about exclusives when Sony's exclusives have sold better. You have two Forza games and Sunset. What other exclusives are there? Oh the other games that are on PC?

Wrong. A game should be about the EXPERIENCE first not the gameplay. Some games rely on story, atmosphere, and characters (TTGs The Walking Dead) more than they do on "gameplay" and they are still exceptional. Personally, Infinates gunplay was average at best, its story and atmosphere (experience) is what pushed me to complete the game. The Last of Us is not overrated.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

So people are dumb are confused?  Tlou has amazing gameplay do your wring.  You are derailing the thread too.  You are confusing your biased opinion s fact.  Most disagree with you.

You're using the argument that its popular so it must be true, which is a logical fallacy. I don't care how unpopular it is to not worship TLOU, it doesn't deserve it. Again, probably the most overrated game of all time. And it's wrecking the industry by  developers thinking that story, characters, and graphics are more important now than gameplay.

Well Orange Box is clearly the excpetion at 96  (except on PS3 where it was a mess)

What comes next?

I know God of War only got a 73 but that wasn't in the same league in terms of upgrades and value.

I cant recall any other "collection" scores from memory.

TOB is indeed an exception, though i don't know why. I'll have a glance into that when i get the chance, but it might simply be a case of it having been the 1st major 7th gen collection.

The scores of collections have gradually dropped through the gen. Some earlier ones like GOW and Metroid managed 91, but since then 80's have become the standard, with the Vita GOW collection and Kingdom Hearts getting below 80.

I expected the MCC to score higher than those more recent collections (which it has done so far, with exception to MGS HD), but i was expected 90+ myself. I didn't think the harsher treatment of other 8th gen only titles would carry over, but it seems i was wrong.

It's understandable why some are complaining though. The scores of collections can seem really wacky when compared to non-collections.

thats a really shitty excuse.

If you were reviewing orignal xbox/360 games today they would have scored just as well, or are you saying the merits that got these games these high scores suddenly matter less as time passes?

If a NEW xbox one game released looking like halo 1, then yes, it would have scored lower, but if a new halo game were to launch today for the original xbox, the platform limitations would play a huge part in the scoring.

Opinions how do the y work?  The melee  engine was fantastic,  perfect mix of stealth,  brutal melee,  survival,  shooting,  all the while making you feel vulnerable and every shot I. Hundreds of critics and millions of gamers disagree.  Stop derailing the thread.

And Avatar is the most successful film of all time. So I guess it's the greatest ever than too right?

Play the MP and you will forget Joel and Ellie with their story... the gameplay is really something great... miles ahead Uncharted or Tomb Raider (the most closest games in terms of gameplay).

Each weapon and upgrade is unique and change the way you handle them... it is really impressive... the pacing and mecanincs are solid and never feel like you loose the control. Meele, stealth, survival, shooting are amazing in the game.

I said the MP because it is purelly focused in the gameplay... so it is better to see how it is geat.

BTW it is not a TLOU's thread... I just said that to try to show to you guys the difference in time periods of the games in the package... that is what holds MCC below 90 meta.

The gameplay was fantastic so that kills your argument.  You saying it doesn't deserve it doesn't make it so but works both ways , you are not the sole authority.

So wr should believe you and not the majority or our experience with the game?  Stop polrojecting your opinion as a fact.  People see it different then you,  pretty simple
