Forums - Gaming - Eurogamer: COD: Advanced Warfare's campaign runs more smoothly on XB1 than on PS4

The PS3 was difficult to develop for so 360 was usually the lead console and sometimes the PS3 received a rushed port. The PS4 is more powerful so it's going to turn out to be the same. Xbox One is going to be the lead with PS4 getting the rushed port. Doesn't matter which console, Sony gets shafted.

Ps4's not getting the shaft. It's gotten the better version in almost every case so far.

I edited it before your reply.  It's similar in both cases to what I said in my edit.  The way I said it points to it being all developers, while it was never all developers for the PS3 or the PS4, but some developers favoring Microsoft over Sony.

This doesn't strike me as forced parity, as PS4 does run at a higher resolution with v-sync. I think it's more that they felt the PS4 audience demanded 1080p so they aimed higher than the engine could deliver at 60fps.

I think the main reason we're not seeing the PS4 pull ahead as much as it should, is because of the developers, but it's for a very innocent and honest reason. Nothing sinister.

They're most likely trying to improve their weakest link. The weakest link is the Xbox One in this case, so they spend most of their efforts there.

For example, if they set themselves the target of 1080p 60fps, then they'll try to hit that on both platforms. The PS4 gets there quite easily, and they don't need to do much more after that point. So now they focus more of their time and resources getting the worst-looking/performing Xbox One version up to snuff.

Your worst result is what stands out. So it would be more beneficial to have both versions look good, rather than have one look great and the other one bad.

Umm COD dips below 60 fps on 1080p res on ps4.... i dont think that is "quite easily"

It seems to sit there most of the time. It doesn't have to be 100% 60fps-never-dropping-a-frame-ever for it to be considered sufficient.

Let me know if it starts to screen-tear constantly and drop into the 30s frequently. Like Ghosts does on both platforms.

I never said it was.  I said "either forced parity or shitty ports."  Unity and Destiny being forced parity, while Advance Warfare is a clear case of the Xbox One being the lead console and the PS4 being a crappy port.

If it was a shitty port, wouldn't it screen tear or drop in resolution as well?

Looks like Activision should have taken the 360 version of AW and remastered it for Xbox one. That way, it may get the 1080p xbots are crying for. Am I wrong?

MP is all that matters in a COD game and both PS4 and Xbone have a consistent 60fps in MP mode, sth the op forgot to write mm why? even in campaign when PS4 reaches 50 or even 45 fps it doesnt matter, it just doesnt matter because u wont feel it.

Add me if u want :)
