Tons of Cutscenes and movies, MGS4: you don't play the game, you watch it

Do you wake up in the morning and think to yourself "What dumbass comment(s) can i make on VGchartz today"? Or are you just naturally like this without even trying?

Auron, don't insult people

Avinash, don't bait people.

Both of you play nice. Keep it civil please.

Well I guess MGS4 won't be on the Ps3 either now, its too big for Blu Ray, lol.

The only reason MGS4 takes so much space is because they have initiative to makes as much use of the Blu-Ray format as possible. Now, is this more content? No my naive children.

MGS4 is instead making full use of Blu-Ray by not compressing huge chunks of data such as Audio, textures, etc. Arguably if comprssed in the same matter as would be done in any game, MGS4 could be put on 2 even possibly 1 360 game disc and look and play almost exactly the same.

Removing the Japanese audio track (from the US version)? All I got to say is: boooooooo...... now I will have to buy the Japanese version as well. What a bummer.

Yeah, sure, that's why Lost Odyssey is on 4 discs.  Give me a break.

you guys are too funny. getting it off cause some developer is too lazy to efficiently program a game?

Holy lord.

and for the record: i dont care about the size or if it is compressed or not. this has nothing, but absolutely nothing to do with whether a game is fun.

also @guy who is like: oh noes, disk 94 is scratched!!! so what happens if bluray disk 1 is broke? very clever indeed.

Because you obviously know more about all this than Kojima and his team of developers who have been working on this game for over 2 years. I am sure Kojima's previous games are prime examples of "laziness".

Blu-Rays are heavily scratch resistant as well. They are significantly more durable than conventional DVD's.

Yeah really, Kojima has no idea how to make a game.  MGS1 was on 3 discs because he sucks at making a game...

MGS3: Subsistence came with 3 DVDs because it was so poorly programmed.

FF7 was on multiple discs because it was so poorly programmed.

Lost Odyssey must be terribly programmed.

*sigh*

Damn straight.  Apparently 360 owners conveniently forget about the games on their system that are already too big for one or even two DVD's.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I didn't read the thread but first and now the forth page... Since it started from time to time look that people don't think with their brains. The post i quoted IMO wins the thread. Although i don't fully agree. Yes, MGS 4 takes the full advantage of BD, this will mean that MGS 4 has a shitload of HD video (anyone who disagrees, don't even know what MGS is), which is streamed from the disc (in which PS traditionally is at its best). Now, considering similar compression ratios would be used for MGS 4, that could be used in N64 games, MGS 4 would have fit in one DVD easilly, but since it has a lot of HD video, DVD just isn't enough. The gameplay would fit to DVD easilly. @Windbane: Yes, MGS was in multiple discs, since Kojima apparently don't know how to make animations with the engine... That's what MGS is about, a lot of videos, which wastes space (actually for my taste, MGS tend to have a little too much videos, but that's not the topic).

Okay, so it would likely take up 2 to 4 discs (and remember Lost Oddessy has FMVs).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Probably more like 4 to 6.

The 360 has roughly 7.5 gigs of usable space per DVD because of security and all the other miscellaneous crap that goes into making a video game too. Of course there is some of this on Blu-Rays as well, but it their is more disc space to go around.
