This service still has a long way to go before it becomes relevant for me.
Prices have been reduced. Most 7 day rentals are now $4.99 which is much lower than Redbox. Renting a game for a week from RedBox will cost about $14. So by objective comparison, this is a much more reasonably priced model. I would love a subscription but I think most people just want it for free.
i don't know why but I just can't invest myself in a game that I don't own, anymore. As a kid, it was fine but now I have to buy what I like. I can't even borrow from a friend. It's good for those who are able to take advantage but the service just never appealed to me.
That's good news. The old prices were ridiculous.

You still have video rental stores? I thought those were extinct. At least they are where I live...IPTV and downloads killed them dead 2-3 years ago.
OT: Good move on reducing prices, they were obviously not satisfied with the amount of rentals achieved. That said, I still think that this will remain a marginal service, somehow I think that the number of people willing to pay rental fees to play 3-5-10 year old game is not very high...
Those prices do seem pretty reasonable. I can't see Sony though putting in a subscription model giving access to the entire store for $x/month as it would be way too high. I could see them putting a set number of games for a fixed price so for example if all games were say $5/week then you get 4x 1week rentals for the price of 3 (so $15).

Netflix is only uploading a file though, not filming a unique movie for every user...

They should charge whatever Gamefly charges minus $5.00 due to the fact of not having to ship actual discs.
I have a question for those who use PSNow. But the games took on PSNow also release the trophies?
