Forums - General - Got hooked... In Legos.

When i was a kid, i used to play quite a lot with legos. They are easy and fun, you have instructions to build something from them or you can use your imagination to build something completely different. I haven't played with Legos in 15 years, but 2 weeks ago i bought 2 small Lego cars for my 2 older kids (3 and 2 years), after all, it's good for them to learn patience. 3 yo took around 20-30 minutes to assemble the police car (with my help). It was fun and all that, but earlier this week, i went to supermarket with the 3 yo, noticed few Star Wars Legos being on 50% sale (AT-ST and Naboo N1 Starfighter [7657 and 7660]), so i bought the AT-ST for 15€. Then yesterday, i went shopping with my wife, and we decided to pick the Naboo Starfighter for 20€, so the kids would have Legos in the future when they are a little older. But today, the 3 years old wanted to build the AT-ST. We started to build it together, i let the kid do everything he could and helped him when he needed help. And now, i'm hooked. We didn't finish the AT-ST, but i feel like i must finish it and build the starfighter... I have to start buying Legos whenever i see them on sale (it's pretty rare). I know we have one Lego fan in this site. But how do you people feel about Legos in general? Anyone still hooked? Anyone found interest in them again, after many years?

Yes Legos are awsome you can never get enough legos. That is the real reason you have kids so you can play with legos again.

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

Yeah. I must get the whole Lego universe. Starting with the Star Wars. Ehh... I mean my kids must have. I'm not in so much for Exo Force, Bionicle and Racers. Technic is the most fun, when you're inventing something by yourself. Although, i can make so much out of metal, so that eats away quite a lot of the Technic magic. And making things from metal (or plastic/whatever) is more challenging and therefore more fun.

I have a bin full of Lego from my childhood days in the basement. I never use it anymore, but I can't bear to sell it, either. I guess I'm waiting so that I can slap a big tub of imagination in front of my own spawnlings some day.

I like them, which is why I have the lego star wars games, but I see them as too expensive, and prefer to spend the little money I have on games, which I see as more worthwhile

You can build with all the same bricks, though...

I bought the first Lego Mindstorms when it came out. But I found it somewhat limited, so it was collecting dust after a while. I think it got lost when I moved, but now I'm thinking about getting the latest version. Or maybe a Basic Stamp and some electronics stuff to play around with.
