I think an x360 is a great choice, I came damn close to buying one last year. However, I'd wait for a hardware revision that eliminates the RRoD issue altogether. With or without a 3 year warranty, the current failure rates are not acceptable for a piece of hardware that i'd spend my money on. They've got the software selection cornered they just need to step up and release some quality hardware to match.
