You only need silver for updates, and downloadable content.

If your an RPG man, you DEFINATELY DO NOT NEED GOLD. Unless your playing an RPG with a strong online component (such as Kingdom Under Fire).

I'd sugguest a pro, regardless - having that 20gb of data will come in handy for the 200+ demos the Xbox 360 has. If your ever curious about a game, a great demo is just 10 minutes away.

As for batteries in the wireless controller - you can get Plug & Play kits for under $10, and the extra rechargable batteries (that work with said P&P kit) for under $6. So it's not too costly.

Hi there, I have been a loyal customer to the Sony camp in console gaming for over 10 years now with absolutely no gripes at all, other than waiting for a damned RPG.

I have big problems with the 360 regarding its hardware, but absolutely love some of the games in it's library, namely Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey. The former is coming to PS3 so I decided to not make a purchase, but now I always want to play LO, even though I know nothing about it besides the fact that it was made by the creator of FF (before he was dropped foloowing Spirit's Within) and the FF games from before that time are some of my favorite all time. Not to mention this game has great music by none other than Nobuo Uematsu.

As a HUGE fan of JRPGs and turned based RPG should I just pick up a 360 anyways? Not sure if 1 game is worth it in the long run, what do you guys think? I care nothing for shooters so this system has always been dead in the water... until this.

Any price drops in the future? I can afford it no problem, but I would hate to think it is a waste of time. :(

Lost odyssey isn't worth getting a 360 for. It only got a 7.6 on metacritic. good, but not great rating.

borrow a 360 off a friend and rent the games.

coolestguyever - Did you ever notice the fact that reviewers were sent the wrong copy of the game that had more bugs in it than the launch version?

LO is one of higher rated games in the library according to actual user rankings.

@Euphoria

truth be told you're asking this question on the wrong website.

vgchartz has became a haven for PS3 trolls since the start of the year.

If you want advice on 360, or looking to find info on further price cut, it would probably be better to go somewhere else.

So are you PS3-er telling me I should not pick up the PS3 if the only game I want to play was GT5?  (it is the main reason I bought PS3 aside from for playing blu-ray movie).

I got 360 for Forza2 and PGR originally but then I ended up buying all these other "great games" on 360. I am not sure why people still are one-console centric especially now where you can easily rent games cheaply.  The cheapest 360 is $279.00.  I don't know to me that's pretty cheap for entertainment that will last me 60-100 hours and more in the future.

Some of you make it sound as if he only could play LO on his 360 .... I bought PS3 for GT5 (which who know when that's going to be out) but if I find PS3 games that are interesting (like Eye of Judgement).  360 already have so many good RPG and will probably get more in the coming year.  LO sequel is already being hint at not to mention already announce titles.

mystic, thats the issue and beef I have.

Chances are, on a PS3 or X360, if you buy it for 1-2 major games, your going to find quite a few more. If your buying an X360 for RPGs, your going to find a few you'll like, even if not for WRPGs.

Pick it up for LO, find out you like BD, maybe get Enchanted Arms or Eternal Sonata since they're cheaper than the PS3 versions. Get IU, get Cry On, look into Operation Darkness, and buy Tales of Verspira well before the talk of a PS3 version surfaces.

Same thing goes for PS3 - sure, you might get it for GT5 prologue, but you might wind up finding other games you like. It's not like we're talking about consoles like the N64 or Gamecube, or Dreamcast where there were slim pickings for certain types of games.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I can sympathize with the poster. I too was not getting the RPG fix I need from one console. I picked up the ds becasue it served my needs. But I say get the 360. If you want some massive RPG action now it is the best choice.

I think the RPG genre is fractured this generation, so unlike with the PS2, you can't get one system if you want to enjoy all of them.

Enjoy the new toy. Now is a great time to purchase becasue we are in the duldrums of realease. And unless Brawl or GTAIV excite you, there is plenty of time ot dig into the 360 back catalog.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

Euphoria -

Just remember, very few of the people that responded negatively to your inquiry of a X360 purchase actually own, or regularly play, an Xbox 360.

The fact is, there's a pretty decent community of RPG-only X360 games, of both Western and Eastern games. If you have RPG questions, ask myself, Starcraft, Ari_Gold, Thibje, NeoRATT, ckmlb, starcraft and a few others all are big on the X360 RPG scene. Many of us here aren't the steriotypical FPS X360 fan. In fact, I'd say that we anticipate the RPGs more than the FPS games. Just go look at the old posts from our members, and you'll be quick to see that we're dedicated to the RPG base that the X360 has.

Also on a quick note: you've indicated that you like Gears, and like story driven RPG gameplay. I'd definately rent Mass Effect. It's one of the best Western RPGs, but has alot of strong JRPG elements in it....Worth a buy in my book. Worth a rent even if your not keen on WRPGs.
