Where are you getting that $224 million figure from? OP only says 215 million yen. |
From Nintendo's very own report. The OP isn't mentionning the Net profit. Also, they made a 90+ million dollars operating profit for the last quarter. However, that still brings it to a 215 million yen operating loss (roughly 2 million dollars which is nothing).
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M

So no company will last in gaming business since nobody now has both good sales and huge profit... Yeah, gaming is doomed...

Definitely the bigger sales company. You wouldn't say some local corner shop is more succesful than some huge international company just because they made a small profit while the big company lost some money would you? They had to be succesful to get to that size in the first place so... |
I can say yes. Small shop with one owner/salesman, family business can be more succesful than the huge megacorporation.

that woudlnt be that bad no... but thats not what it was. It was 215m yen for the 3 month period, or $2m. |
They made an operating profit. Their very own financial highlights is for the first half of their FY14. They brought down the operating los from 9+ billion yen to 215 million yen. So much misleading information going on in this thread..
EDIT: I apologise if this was already cleared up earlier.

At least we can say that WiiU software sales are HUGELY undertracked here... )))
Ka-pi96 said:
That's not true. Sony have. As long as we are only talking about the gaming business then they have got both good sales and profit. |
We talking about HUGE profit here? )
Ka-pi96 said:
Hmm, about a 10million difference? Yeah, I doubt digital makes up that much, so undertracked. |
You forgot VC, eShop and DLC, methink... )
All I know is that the lil guy at the corner store is still in business after about 23 years, but Enron (a 100 billion plus company) isnt. At the end of the day.
Profit = good
Loss = bad
Great sales = good
Terrible sales = bad
Growth in sales = good
Lack of growth in sales = bad
What investors really look at is revenue and profit growth.

So now you've broken it down to just the gaming business? Just because Nintendo is only gaming doesn't mean we have to cut the profits of the other companies. Your post said "which company is more successful".
