I think Nintendo's problem with Emulation is they want all the games to run 100% accurate. So nothing is mistimed or missing. Emulators don't got for actually. It just gets them to work.

Well no emulator will run games 100% accurately, not even Nintendo's VC titles. But certainly 6th generation hardware can emulate 4th generation hardware at reasonable speeds with very few glitches so much so that it will be  very much accurate. The New 3DS wouldn't change the accuracy issue by just adding more ram and a faster cpu. That is an issue with programming itself, not power.

will they be using a faster version of the CPU they already have? or adding another one?

All Nintendo said was that it has an "improved" CPU and it is rumored that the ram is increased too. Honestly, the new 3DS is really dissapointing. The one thing that would've made it appealing was higher image quality (on 3ds XL's there is definitely much to be wanted in that area) and Nintendo didn't implement that. Instead they increase the diagonal screen size of the XL by an inch, making the DPI even worse, increase internal hardware for whatever reason, and release exclusive games to it.

that does sound crappy when you put it that way

Yeah, just so you get an idea, the PPI of the XL is 95 for each screen. Let's compare that to say a cheap (comparable to the 3DS) smartphone released in 2010, like the HTC Desire Z (252 PPI) or the iPhone 3GS (326 PPI.) Albeit the 3DS has to work with 3D output (400 x 280 pixels per eye) and it has two screens, but the technology was relatively cheap even in 2010. Today, it wouldn't cost Nintendo much at all to make a 163 PPI (which would entail a resolution of 480p)  top screen 3ds. Hell they could keep the bottom screen at 95 PPi if they want since that screen is barely used. With the rumored specs of the new 3DS that would've worked out fine.

I gave my 3DS and the 3 games I had to my niece. In other hand, I play my PSP (RPGs) every day, and my Vita (BP and free PSNPLUS games) every week.
So, I don´t care much for the 3DS and new 3DS.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

They didn't, though. The N3DS XL has the same screen size as the 3DS XL. It's the regular (smaller) New 3DS that got a slightler larger screen (compared to the old smaller model).

So maybe Nintendo is just being lazy to program an emulator to the 3DS. What else can it be?

It's not as though the developers who would otherwise have been programming a GBA or SNES emulator for 3DS are sitting on their hands instead. Choosing to prioritize one project over another is not laziness.

Thank you for your helpful and certainly on-topic post, non-3DS owner.

I have mixed feelings about it.

On one hand, I appreciate the more powerful hardware and extra control inputs. The 3DS hardware is pretty weak, and it's good that newer versions will improve.

On the other, I worry that my original 3DS will be getting less support unless I buy a New 3DS. It's also disappointing to see the Circle Pad Pro accessory effectively abandoned.

Wait a minute. Shouldnt Ninty at this point have programmers JUST for VC things? that would make sense. Either they do and they are being lazy or they just incompetent. I dont know which is worse. OR they dont have dedicated programmers for these kinds of things and if that is the case thats just Nintendo being stupid.

...Or, y'know, they're working on other VC things. Like GBA, DS, and SNES on Wii U, the console that needs their attention right now.

You'd think Nintendo was acting like this reading a comment like that.

People have been doing emulators for YEARS. And they didnt require teams of people either. So a company as big as Nintendo is having a problem doing what guys do in their damn basement for the hell of it. ANd they cant get it going on TWO systems? Yeah im not buying that. Ill stick to them being incompetent or if they are incompentent hire more programmers.

Edit: Oh thats exactly what i think Ninty is acting like but then again i am cynical

*shrug* Nintendo has made its fair share of seemingly poor decisions. I simply think there's a more reasonable explananation than to assume that a multi-billion-dollar company is as wholly incompetent as you're suggesting. It's possible, they're far from perfect.

Cynicism never did me any good, so I make a conscious effort to avoid it in every aspect of life. It's not worth the negativity in my own head to have cynical feelings about a hobby I enjoy.

I'm patiently waiting for that reason. One has yet to be provided. But fair enough, i see where you're coming from
