Good.

...

And I have to say the hating here is beyond sad. It's like people feel that a Nintendo console being able to get games that come with the numbers '1080' and the letter 'p' is somehow personally offensive. Then quasi-truths are being thrown around like anyone actually knows the first thing about how this game tasks the system.

Personally, I couldn't care less, I don't plan on buying it as I already have it for 3DS, but I would like to point out that it isn't just "haters", the "nintendo side" are throwing their fair share of insults too.

The issue here is, the game is not terribly complex, world environments do not have anywhere near the polycount of a standard games environment, hell they have even less of a polycount than the average MK8 track, so the power needed to run it at 1080p 60fps is significantly different, hence MK8, developed by the same company, could not achieve 1080p.

People being salty because it's 1080p is sad, but people ignoring this obvious difference in processing requirement that allowed it to reach this performance, to insult the other consoles, is equally sad.

Sure, true. Let's just say that this is yet again one of those threads that show how childish the industry and the people in it is. Since I joined this site, that fact has been made abundantly clear to me. None of the fanbases has done their side any service. Before, I have never felt any kind of hostility or unhealthy bias in any way. Even when I myself was a child, 'gaming' never felt so childish.

Of course, there's good people out there and those people shouldn't feel spoken to.

Let's see, 2 3DSs, 3 Wiimotes, a Gamepad, and a Pro Controller, Can I do 7 players with that?

Damn the salt in this thread is real XD

Exactly what I was counting, I have a 3Ds, two Wii remote, a GamePad and a Pro Controller... I will get the GameCube controller blundle... So it's 6 players.

Back on topic...

I can see Smash Bros.. running ate 1080p/60fps... Fighting games are not that graphically demanding, and the models in Smash are not like those in Mario Kart 8, not even as big...

NSMBU was lackluster, it was possible 1080p, but also Nintendo first attempt in HD.

Don't forget that's is a port of a 3DS game!

Keep telling yourself that.

A port is a game that was originally designed to run in a Hardware, than ported to another. Sometimes the results are bad due to lazy porting.

But in this case, both games were developed at the same time, with its own code, it is by no means a port. Read before trolling.

The screenshots have always been 1080p, indicating that this was the case, but still it's weird; they have targeted 720p in almost every other first party title, why shoot for 1080p with Smash?

Maybe this is a transition period for first party games to now strive for 1080p?

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Sounds good.

The only question I have is why the 8-players thing is being touted as a technical achievement. Granted, it sounds like a cool feature, but I can't imagine 8-players would be much more taxing than 4 for this particular game. What's the big deal?

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Not suprising as this is a fighting game. However the game still looks impressive and fun, which matters the most.
