Forums - General - Obama's Veep, who do you think it will be?

Hillary Clinton would be interesting simply because it would so absolutley guarantee him the support of everyone mildly liberal, so completely unify the democrats and so completely earn the disgust of the extreme christian right.

Al Gore would be another cool one.

I actually don't know many US politicians XD

Hmm... Hilary. I don't think that will happen even though it seems like a good ticket. I think she just may be the first female Attorney General.

Who you choose as your running partner is your opportunity to balance your platform and to add emphasis to key issues. If Obhama is to be successful he will need to choose an older (more experienced), moderate democrat ...

I think getting a moderate Republican would send an even more powerful message to the electorate and crush all the claims of his speeches being empty rhetoric (which is why Ithink Hagel would be an excellent choice)

I don't think you're going to see a split ticket like this any time soon.  We have heard for years that there is "no real difference between the parties" and frankly putting both parties on the same ticket like that would reinforce that idea big time.

It is one thing for Obama to diversify his cabinet like he's talked about doing, but putting a republican on the ticket with him would alienate an awful lot of people who want nothing to do with voting for republicans.

Plus I suppose you could even argue the assassination problem.  If you have a republican as vice president, wouldn't that increase the risk of some wacko going after him to get a republican in office?  Even a moderate republican is going to put different judges on the bench than Obama would, etc.

Perhaps but Hagel has been more centrist than most of the GOP, and has been vocal in his criticism of Bush, so I think he would be palatable to most democrats. And It would show a difference between the parties, the willingness of the dems to work with Republicans unlike the GOP, McCain would never take on a Dem VP.

As for assasination, it's a risk whether or not he picks a republican VP, but you can't live in fear over those type of things, have hope

APolitical, I think your gay for Obama. I just wish he would take stances on the issues, and wasn't a wishy washy politician, who is afraid of change, because it would make him lose votes.

Honestly, if Barrack wasn't so charasmatic, no matter how many people didn't want to vote republican, Hilary would have won, and there is no way Hilary could beat McCain in a general election, that's just lunacy.

Obama may be a wishywashy mess of a candidate that's only getting elected because he speaks well and looks good, but he's the best thing that happened to the democratic party since Bill Clintons pre-sex scandal years.

Without him, the Democrats couldn't find anyone to beat McCain. Hilary is already tracking below McCain nationally, and John Edwards? Everybody hates John, short of far left loons, and whoever was running against him would win by the largest landslide in this nations history.

Also, Avinash, McCain is the only candidate that has crossed the isle in this election, Obama certainly won't, he's as far left as a candidate can get, and still be viable.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I have been gay for Obama since like 2002, I admit it.

I don't think he's wishy-washy at all, though. If his speeches are lacking in substance, his website is only a click away, and it explains all of his positions in pretty sick degrees of depth.

McCain however is corrupt and ignorant, in theis period when we are heading into an economic crisis I don't want a guy who is more interested in starting more wars and bowing to lobbyists

Yet Obama hasn't agreed to take up the challenge for public financing only. Obama says he'd bomb terrorists in soverign nations without said nations approval. You don't think that would start up some problems?

As usual your views are so biased to one side you do both sides discredit by not actually paying any real attention to them.

Instead just finding the few bits that support your point of view and running with them.

Incorrect, Obama stated that he wanted to meet with McCain to disicuss campaign finance for the general elcection once he is the nominee, if he doesn't McCain will trot out all the 527's to try and swift-boat Obama, Obama is playing it smarter than kerry did, on the other hand McCain is currently trying to weasel his way out of public funds in spite of the fact that he used the promise of public funds in oreder to obtain a loan when his campaign was cash strapped

Obama only said he would chase Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan if Pakistan doesn't do anything about it, and that if Al-Qaeda formsa a base in iraq he may choose to act agsint them, first off history shows that once America leaves Iraq, Al-Qaeda's power will be lost and they'll be thrown out by the Iraqi people.  As for Pakistan, well that's where we should have had our focus on first, not Iraq, and it would not be a full scale occupation like Iraq, as we would only need special forces to track Osama.  Mccain on the other hand wants to maintain a long term prescense in iraq, and wants to expand into Iran, ignoring that neither Iraq nor Iran had anything to do with 9/11, and are not threats to the US.

Sorry but i'm not being biased, its just the Obama's stances are better than Mccain's overall
