The Home Public beta rumor is a bit more concrete than just a countdown. Jonnyram on NeoGAF posted that it was indeed happening on March 24 in Japan, and possibly elsewhere. The guy has a history of posting reliable info relating to Japan.

Looking forward to it. The lack of splitscreen and long loading times were the only big faults in the first.

no there is a difference the a dev wanting to make a sequal and the publisher wanting a sequal.

A agree with your post in it's entirity. I simply found myself bored with the first one. The graphics were ok for a launch title, but the gameplay was so "meh." I'll be looking for a complete revamp of gameplay, with graphics a side issue in Motorstorm 2.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
motorstorm looked great already. all i want is faster loading screens. and stats on the cars like max speed, acceleration etc. i dunno if it had those already i wasnt that much into it.
Damn makingmusic, you're on a roll. I've never played the original one, but I'm willing to try this one out, if it turns out good.

How is Motorstorm 2 being milked?
It's Motorstorm 2.
It's a racing game. It's not as if it had some grand arching plot that caused everything to be wrapped up at the end to where you couldn't ever expect people to race things anymore.
Besides it's a racing franchise. Racing franchises are supposed to have a number of sequels. I can't think of one good racing game that hasn't had a couple of sequels (aside from crash team racing).
I thought Motorstorm sucked, but to call Motorstorm 2 milking is just stupid.
