Ill say right now, Im against "Hatred" and I like Mortal Kombat and Gears of War.  

Let's just say... Their next game in production is called "Rape". And there is a wide assortment of victims to choose from.

Would you consider that "game" to be more or less offensive than this one? Where do we as Americans draw the line on what can be released? There are movies and tv shows that are about mass murderers and rape, but they are usually caught by police or murdered in the end. The only difference here is that you are in control of this antagonist and making the awful decisions. For "Hatred", I'm sure it'll be game over when the police kill you. So in the end, the good guys take down the bad guy.

What if they gave you the option to play as a police officer in this game trying to stop the mass murderer? Would that make you guys feel different about this release? Why does it make a difference which character you control, the same events are happening? It all comes down to how you morally feel about the character you are controlling, and it makes people feel uneasy if they can't relate to the character or are truly morally disgusted by the characters actions.

Don't waste your breath. Some think games like this and GTA are the same!

Killing innocent people is perfectly fine in GTA, and this game is "controversial" ? Come on.

I havent read through the comments but youre most likely right.  Though GTA and Mortal Kombat has both went through controversy as well, and i do think people need to acknowledge that.  Though their criticisms were for very different reasons which i think people should also acknowledge.  

Then you have to explain why. Violence is violence period, and trying to makes this game seem like its doing more than anything else since the beginning of games is just playing into white knight/social justice shit infecting the industry. If this had a story that tries to justify the game it would NOT be getting this press. It is because developers marketing it as do just do game. See how shallow that is? Ripping heads off in GoW or cuban genocide in Uncharted 1 was cool because story dictated reason ... Thats it act killing is fine now.

I already did above.  Show people Gears of War.  Its scifi, save the world, story game.  Mortal Kombat, fake situation, fighters i different realms fighting each other, also story.  

Now show hatred to the families that has lost loved ones in similar situations that is portrayed in "Hatred".  Then come and tell me how they reacted.  This is a very real thing that happens in life and that has truly effected people across the world.  As i said before, its considered out of bad taste.  Just like if you made a game about flying planes into the world trade centers.  Or if you made a game about raping people and you play as the person who rapes someone.  Or if you could give people cancer and watch them die.  All these things are sensitive subjects and are real world things.  

They do realize all this press coverage is just gonna sell more copies right?

The idea that these are fantasy situations so it doesn't count is mental barrier. If some creep decided to make and game around anthro dogs that are suppose to find and rape anthro cats, it does not make the idea any less sicko because anthro animals dont exist and dogs dont actually mate with cats.. Your putting the presentation  before the concept. It does not matter how its presented. It is what it is.
