Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo gamers: Do you hate Japan gamers for how they treat the Wii U?

Well its not like the rest of the world gives much of a shit about it either though...

And then maybe later this gen or next gen no one gives a shit about Playstation (like PSP to Vita). That's the way the entertainment industry goes. One moment you are hot the next moment you are not. Microsoft learned this the hard way.

Still better over here. We deserve everything first and FF before christmas.

Really? About 2 million WiiUs sold in Japan and 2.8 million in the US and 1.8 million in Europe.

Now see the population of all three locations and youll see that Japan is where the WiiU is the most popular...

Yet we are still getting Smash for Wii U first. As for the OP's comments in this thread, I think he is joking or drunk.

I think the question is what does Japan want on the WiiU?
It's clearly not anything made by P*.

JRPGs? Specific rpg franchises? New IP? I don't know what "Japan" likes.

I wouldn't hate on Japan because of how the Wii U is treated. I would simply hate Nintendo for the poor marketing of the system and lack of variety on the system. The people in Japan are mainly now handheld people.

I don't hate them. We just have different customs and culture. I was watching a documentary not too long ago on how Japanese Males work like 50-60+ work weeks so they need gaming on the go. Since they work so much, they are also interested in games that connect them to other people (especially the opposite sex). Also, females in Japanese culture aren't as free as females in the west. They are still all about taking care of the man, having the food ready when he comes home and taking care of the kids etc.

This being said it makes total sense why many games don't sell in Japan and why consoles are just dying in general. Only hardcore gamers buy games like Bayonetta over there, for the average consumer in Japan just doesn't have the time to put hours in beating a game at home.

Again, this is just according to the documentary I saw. If you really ask me, I have something against FPS genre... but that's a story for a different thread...

I'm wondering if this "documentary" would by any chance be called Game Theory.

Was it? LoL if it was, all I remember is someone talking while showing pictures and video of Japanese culture. Still, that guy is really spot on with everything he says, so I have to take his word for it.

I hate the state of the market there, yeah. The onus is ultimately on Nintendo to make the system appealing to consumers, but there's really not much you can do to combat the monster that smartphone gaming has become over there.

Maybe... yep, but not too much.

Lolz. It probably was. Did you watch on youtube?

I think so. I am going to have to go by all the Game Theory videos to see if I saw it there (lawl)... Not a problem since they are mostly all rewatchable...
