QOL, R'n'd and they have that mysterious 100 million acquisition.

Plus the shitty sales of the Wii U.

I have a feeling that they will be in the red again this year

When did they spend this much?

Last fiscal year I believe. Could be for QOL, dev studio or some tech company

It must be very important, as no one has discovered what company was bought

Blowing cash? More like investments.

One thing I can assure you, Nintendo will make a profit long before Sony does.

Lets also not forget that last fiscal year, Nintendo went from having 10 billion dollars in the bank to 4 billion. 6 billion dollars just mysteriously disappeared. Well, it appears that money has gone somewhere, and Nintendo may have something big to announce some time in the future.

And as always they are working to surprise everyone.

Maybe it has something to do with holograpic discs?

Holographic Discs? Not sure about that

Plot Twist: They bought Ubisoft, Activison, and or EA.

Makes sense as it is something that can give pirates a headache. IMO, the acquisition is of a tech that can either combat piracy (holographic discs), a future innovation (Buru-Navi) or something completely unrelated to gaming.

Maybe Nintendo actually is looking into buying out CAPCOM.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

From what i remember, and like others said, the loss comes from Wii U being sold at a loss (probably because there isn't enough SW to cover that loss), continuous R&D which i think Iwata said that would decrease in value, the new building and that 100 million spent on the tech - that nobody still knows what it's about.

With Wii U turning a profit now, R&D costs coming down and no tech to add to the costs, most likely Nintendo will make a profit starting this last quarter.
