Forums - Nintendo - What is Nintendo blowing cash on?

I just need to know why the hell Nintendo is still making a loss even after the moderate successes they had in 2013 and 2014 (the former had the 3DS finally succeed whilst the Wii U withered; the latter has so far been a moderate success for both platforms).

I won't be surprised if it was on R&D, but damn. They should really be looking at the RoIs if that were the case.

Well its certainly not advertisement.

But probably it is going into the 3DSn, QOL, and perhaps some games we are unaware of.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

The thing is that I don't think that Nintendo isn't really spending a lot on game development anymore, considering how quickly Captain Toad came out of EAD, and so is Splatoon.

I'm still thinking it's R&D, but I want a detailed breakdown.

I wonder what's happening with QoL. Weren't we supposed to hear about it by now? When's the next investor's meeting, perhaps we'll hear something about it then.

QOL, R'n'd and they have that mysterious 100 million acquisition.

Plus the shitty sales of the Wii U.

I have a feeling that they will be in the red again this year

When did they spend this much?

It's very likely related to their next handheld/console in addition to QoL.

Blowing cash? More like investments.

One thing I can assure you, Nintendo will make a profit long before Sony does.

What are these buildings for? And, I'm pretty sure that these don't make the bulk of those mysterious costs.

Nintendo is in the process of a major restructuring which costs $$$$. The Wii U hasn't sold enough to cover these massive costs, that's why you see losses. Restructurings however, are finite, therefore when its over Nintendo will return to profitability.
