either is fine with me. i don't personally get why anyone has a strong preference either way. so long as it is ergonomically built the controller disappears from my gaming experience quite quickly. i only notice the bad things in a controller.

Symmetrical is best IMO
Since I love to play many 2D games, I like to have the d-pad and face buttons symmetrical to eachother. Just feels better. And, for games in which you use 2 analog sticks at once (shooters, some racing games), it's typically more important to be able to comfortably hit the triggers than the face buttons.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
I don't really care as long as my left stick is up high. I can adapt to anything, though.
Asymmetrical, or Wii U style, my opinion hasn't changed a bit. I have yet to use a DualShock style controller that didn't give me cramps. I also have yet to use a PS4 controller though...

Symmetrical is the best looking one, but in use it doesn't really matter to me.

| Veknoid_Outcast said: I don't think symmetrical vs. asymmetrical fully captures the situation. The placement and proximity of the sticks, within each layout, is also important. For example, I like the symmetrical design of the DualShock 4 but I strongly dislike the sticks bunched up at the center of the controller. It makes the controller less comfortable than the Pro Controller and Xbox One controller, which feature symmetrical and asymmetrical layouts, respectively. So I think symmetry is less important than spacing and height, when it comes to analog sticks. |
This.
I'm a big fan of the Xbox family/GameCube style, but I like the recent Wii U layout just as much.
I can definitely use the PS layout as well, but it just doesn't click with me as well as the others...
Symmetrical - just like evolution (not the game developer though lol)
Symmetrical. That and the d-pad are the primary reason i used to favor the DS3 over the 360's controlled (despite the 360's being better in almost every other way, annoying batteries aside).
Needless to say, i'm a big fan of the DS4

I have no preference to be honest. I use both on a regular basis (I have a Wii U and my younger brother has an XBox One I play when I'm at his house) and haven't had a problem with either.
I constantly jump from one console to the next. The only issue I have is that sometimes the game will ask me to press some button quickly and I'll forget that I'm on a Nintendo console and not a Microsoft console and then I press "A" when I meant to press "B" or vice versa or I'll hesitate.
I don't think I've ever had an issue with analog placement since the N64 days.
