That is a big problem with nintendo hardware that needs to be fixed. Nintendo consoles are probably the worst if you decide to get all your games digitally.

But you can transfer everything from one 3DS to another right? Digital purchases can be redownloaded, all your save data and Miis will be there etc., so upgrading to the New 3DS shouldn't be an issue.
