When PS4 will outsell 3DS?

Next year ( o_O ) 20 4.33%

2016 57 12.34%

2017 106 22.94%

2018 66 14.29%

2019 20 4.33%

2020 14 3.03%

after 2020 9 1.95%

never 170 36.80%

Total:462

So eh, the 42% "never"... on what grounds would 3DS resist the PS4 rise? Look at both line ups and tell me because 3DS has barely any games in development and only part of them will be localised.

It's because soon is such a vague answer, you're assuming that we all know what you mean by "soon"...

I didn't assume that. I wasn't really busy with setting a definition to it.

It's fine that you didn't assume that (and I really don't think you did) it just could come off like you did because you said such a vague answer of "soon" and then get irritated by people assuming an actual finite date to your "soon". Because in actuality, the end of the year is still considered soon and they weren't wrong in assuming that's what you meant because you didn't specify it. In any event it really doesn't matter and I feel that JWeinCom did bring up some pretty valid points in his opinion.

I hope you realize just how ridiculous this sounds. "Soon" is, like you said, a vague term. Because it's so vague, you cannot really tell someone that they were wrong. What you do need to do is to ask them to clarify what they mean by that. If you don't, and instead you make an assumption, you're simply putting words into someone's mouth. Any fair court in the world would find you guilty and not the person who used the vague term. That's how most people get away with things, i.e. by bending the truth.

There's no proof that he meant the end of the year no matter what you or others consider as "soon". If you are a student and your teacher tells you that the deadline for the submission of x project is soon, you ask for clarification/a specific date even if he didn't specify himself. You don't just make assumptions and then accuse him of telling you otherwise.

mid 2017 to mid 2018.

After the 4DS comes out.

So when do you all expect the real 3DS successor?

The 3DS was launched 28 months after the DSi and 15 months after the DSi LL.

The New 3DS and the New 3DS LL launched this month, So I expect the launch of the HDS (or whatever it is named) in November 2016 or February 2017... so 25 - 28 months after the "New 3DS". 1st party software support for the 3DS will dwindle in 2016, when Nintendo needs the resources for the HDS-launch-games.

And I expect the HDS and HDS LL to launch at the same time... Nintendo knows by now that some people prefer a smaller device and some prefer bigger screens. If they only offer one of those sizes for the first year, many potential customers will wait for the other model, which hurts the first year hardware (and software) sales.

Giving size options right from the start gets more and more common for mobile devices: iPhone 6 & 6+, Xperia Z3 + Z3 Compact, iPad Air & mini and many more.

PS4 is already at 15 million WW. I can see 25 millionish sale for next year that would 40 and add 20 more for 2016 its easy

That's not even relevant, the GBA was apart of an entire new generation with an entire new generation of games numbered in the hundreds, they discontinued GB & GBC for GBA. That's like saying the DS, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL are in the 3DS family because well.. it has DS in it's name. Like it or not the 3DS family includes 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS, and N3DS XL because A) they're not discontinuing the 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS for the N3DS and N3DS XL B) they're still going to make games for the 3DS, XL, and 2DS C) there are only going to be a small amount exclusive games for it compared to the entire 3DS library now and going forward and D) it's just an upgrade.

How you treat previous systems have nothing to do with it. All you need to know is if the exclusive software justifies the new identity.

You don't know if there are going to be a small amount of exclusives ...

You're correct, I don't know if there is going to be a small amount of exclusives. But that doesn't matter because just like it was explained in my previous post it's part of the 3DS family. Oh sure, it could be given a new identity like the GBC (which actually had a lot of exclusive games), but it's still part of the 3DS family and it's sales are still going to be counted alongside the 3DS, 3DS XL, and 2DS in the end, because it's just an upgrade (basically a 3DS with a built in circle pad pro and faster processor) and it's also not Nintendo's new next-gen handheld.

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all. This isn't a court, people are free to assume what they want, and like you said "because it's so vague, you cannot really tell someone that they were wrong". I never said anybody was wrong and I even acknowledged that I really knew he wasn't assuming anything by it. I was merely expressing what could be the reasoning behind some people's assumptions, and that if he didn't want to get irritated by other people's assumptions of what "soon" meant he should of specified it in the first place. It really isn't a big deal at all, he just didn't feel the need to specify what "soon" meant (which is understandable) and some people assumed wrong (which is also understandable).

LOL never gonna happen. Not unless nintendo decides to drop all support for the 3ds at the end of next year.

Never say never :)

Anyway a lot of crow to be dished out. That poll shows the vast majority thought it was beyond the ps4 to overtake the 3DS. In the end it does it super easily and will go way ahead of it lifetime.  Mighty performance by the ps4.
