I kind of agree with some of the comments on GAF to be honest. Things aimed at children tend to be hugely popular for quite a while but then slowly die out. Very few franchises actually resonate for generations (i.e. Pokemon).
With Youkai Watch, I feel like Level-5 could keep this going for years and make it into something akin to Pokemon if they wanted. Instead, they're choosing to cash in as much as possible now instead.
That's not necessarily a bad decision seeing what happened to their other franchises (which admittedly were also over-milked, but still).
Choosing to live like this means they'll have to constantly be looking for their next big hit, though.
