Forums - Website Topics - We need an "ignore user" option

**sigh**

I have yet to see anybody fully explain to me, what benefit would be gained by such a feature.

Is literally ignoring somebody so difficult that you need a computer to help you do it????

There are MANY posts I see from users who do nothing but irritate - I simply skip over them... ...it's called a 'mouse wheel' and it works very well. ;)

I have a laptop, so I don't have a mouse wheel.  What do you suppose I do TalonMan?

If I deleted it I wouldn't have proof. I showed multiple mods. If I called them out on it I'd paint a target on my name.

Implementing an ignore user feature would be a horrible idea on a gaming site like this. The angry fans of each console would quickly use the function on each other, and we'd end up with 3 separate user bases that have barely any interaction with each other.

@TalonMan)

I want an ignore option, because some people are irritating and annoying me with their uselessly aggressive attitude and usually they like to comment in many many threads and say the same things over and over and over again. A single post of them won't warrant a ban though and even, if they are banned it's at most for a day, so they will do the same things they did before again.

An ignore option would be a good way to prevent unnecessary anger and frustration (the later one comes from my own vow to not bother with those subjects) on my side.

A problem with the "just literally ignore those posts" idealism you propose is, that it's impossible to look at a word without reading it, so by just scrolling down you will still read words from the post and if something offends you, your won't be able to avert your eyes from it. Well, ok ofcourse it's possible, but it leads to an inner frustration, like I said before and I really hate to bottle up frustration.

There are more useful features to add first... like the ability to not show signatures.

While this site has many posters, its only so many that consistantly post so theres really no need for it. A site like gamefaqs, where there are nothing but trolls and probably more than 100,000 posters, then yea you need one.

 Now this is a powerful idea....I think I could get through threads faster.

@ Parokki )

that's just a worst case scenario, which in my opinion won't come true on a site like this, where most of members actually are able to have conversations other that "fail" "owned" "noob" "fanboy" etc. (although ofcourse some very actively posting people do fit the description I just gave and I kinda liked to be able to ignore those)

looks like guess he asked for it.

i think it would be impractical. if someone you had ignored said something that a lot of people commented on, you would want to know what they said. also, how would you un-ignore them if you cant see them at all.
