US/UK is close and may actually favor Xbox One in November (or not, but only time will tell us). As far as China, PS4 will not be available there before end of year. And I'm sure other countries are close like US/UK. Even Japan is not going to play a big impact in the global number. The real differentiator is Europe.

When MMC comes out and Microsoft starts their PR campaign for black friday period, chances that US goes back to MS are real. Same goes for the UK and the PS4 will NOT be available in China in november too.

So yah, if Microsoft not win a week in november it is definitely because of "Europe".

Why does Japan not matter but China does? Japan is a bigger market...

Also, you're forgetting about a whole lot of countries. Playstation is significantly more popular almost everywhere but the US and UK, or it was so last generation. Now it is significantly more popular everywhere (where both are available), except maybe Brazil for obvious reasons (insanely overpriced)

Thanks for basically repeating what I was saying, at least you totally agree with me.

Oh and we are talking about november... Actually not even... We are talking about beating PS4 one week.
The only thing that will not make this happen in november is Europe as MMC will boost Xbox One sales in general but Europe will still win by a huge margin anyway.

Also, if you believe that Microsoft sold 174k console INCLUDING 100k in 24 hours in China this week... Then you are assume a bit too much that VGchartz numbers are rights. I would not be suprised if after adjustments we see the Xbox One ahead for last week. So arguing about if and when the Xbox One will sell more than the PS4 (for a week is almost pointless).

I fail to see how we're saying the same thing. Anything but, really. You say Europe is the only reason for this but I say the WORLD is the reason. MMC won't provide a big boost tbh, I'd be surprised if it jumps more than 40-50% WOW.

Eh, we know already that PS4 is always undertracked on VGC so it's highly unlikely that adjustments will go in favor of XB1...
Also, XB1 didn't sell 100k in China. Ioi estimated 50-80k (don't know his final number).

Don't play the ignorant card some of you, you know damn well why people hate xbox one. Worldwide is PS4. Get used to it. Even US prefers PS4.

I think the point being made is that just because someone prefers the PS4, it doesn't automatically mean they hate the Xbox One. After all, the motivator being hate (keeping in mind it's a very strong word) would imply that one is buying the competition simply because it is NOT the item they 'hate.' That they are only ignoring the Xbox One because of some deep, personal grudge, not because the PS4 is actually more appealing. There ARE people who dislike, even hate, the Xbox One, certaintly. But in the case of Europe especially I believe that it is it isn't that they hate the Xbox One, they just don't really care about it, and are simply more interested in a Playstation console. It isn't hate, it's apathy. =P

Hate gives way too much credit to the Xbox One, by insinuating that its sales woes are due to some grand, emotional conspiracy against it. While it's various policies and screwups certainly didn't help it's image, I think that outside its usual stronghold markets especially, it was going to get its butt kicked regardless of its launch problems. At best, it might've gotten its butt kicked a little less. So, while hate might intensify the butt kicking, it isn't the reason for it. A lot of the people responding with incredulity did so because they, and I, believe that Dark was trying to imply that if people would just stop being so darned emotional and hateful, everyone would hop aboard the Xbox train. =P in the case of Europe especially, fat freaking chance.

Realistically if it doesn't happen WE 11/15/2014 it wont happen this year.

It would be dependent upon a major software release like Gears or Halo, which is not surprising.

I'm not even sure a permanent price drop would do the trick as we've already seen the non-effect of a $100 discount in the form of a de-bundling. By the time MS drops $50 off all SKUs, SCE will probably in a position to do the same as they're already in the process of lowering the BoM of the PS4.

EU sales will still make it a difficulty, even with a major software release, paired with a special edition bundle. While it's not a given, we could be seeing MS give away a lot more titles in the future with said bundles as they did with Titanfall and NFL 15 and the upcoming Sunset bundle. Whether that has a significant effect on console sales really has yet to be proven for the XBO.

The real question is does it even matter if the XBO manages to outsell the PS4 for a SINGLE week?

Obviously, no.

It only matters if it represents an ongoing trend in the shift of consumer buying habits.

Best post of the thread.

Of course not.In november/december, it will be the holidays sales, new games won't have impact at all for hardwares sales.

With bad sales in europe + japon + ROW, Ms can't win a single week until halo 5 release.

MS shipped 100k consoles in China, VGC counts sold to customer. We know Xbone baseline is around 80-90k and the estimate that they sold around 80k of their 100k shipped number is more than impressive, it's actually bigger than any other launch in a single country Microsoft had this year but it still wasnt big enough to outsell PS4 considering how big the gap is

No, Vgchartz counted only 75/80k for china, 20 k for others Tiers 2 country.

China =/= ROW.
