R.I.P. Jaywood

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

As some of you must have noticed JayWood has been permabanned since his profile is not public here is a copy of the ban note:

Since the beginning of this year, you have made moves in order to support your own off-site projects. Off-site projects in themselves aren't a bad thing, but how one goes about them while on VGChartz has to be treated in a very serious manner in accordance to our Terms of Use and Forum Rules. Under our Terms of Use (which you agreed with when you signed up), within "Your Conduct", article 4 states the following: "You will not advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose unless you have our written consent to do so." Despite this, you have used our forums as grounds for both advertising and gaining information for no other purpose than to benefit your own project (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201076
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201085
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201090).

After this, you even began to publicly use our forums as a means of recruitment to find users to help you with your off-site project (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201776). Even after this information and resource gathering, you went a step further to actually advertise your project within your threads (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201888
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201886
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201885
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=201884).

This is when the mod team had to take action initially, contacting ioi about this and him responding that your actions needed to stop immediately. You did in fact stop your public resource gathering, advertising, and recruiting at that point. That should have been where this ended, but more recently we have learned that you have continued to resource gather, advertise, and recruit via private avenues on this site. When your off-site project is geared towards operating in the same niche that VGChartz operates in, we cannot have you continue to siphon users, resources, and mindshare while on this site. Not only do you continue to violate our Terms of Use (articles 4, 5, and 10 specifically), but based on the evidence we have gathered it is undeniably clear that VGChartz is only a tool for you to use in order to benefit your own project. After five days of talking with TruckOSaurus, AxumBlade, the mod team, and Machina, we have agreed that you are no longer allowed to participate on this site. Good luck on your project, but you have shown that you view VGChartz only as a resource to use (and ultimately abuse) for your own gain. We cannot allow that to happen, for this site and community's long term health.

This is actually priceless.

Good luck on JayWorld, Jay.

Appreciate the transparency. I recall participating in a few of the threads you listed above.

Without digging through the threads you've listed, what was his off-site project? You don't have to link it here, just curios as to what he was working on.

Also,

This is when the mod team had to take action initially, contacting ioi about this and him responding that your actions needed to stop immediately.

You were able to reach ioi? I thought he was MIA? Maybe you could encourage him to provide an official update on the sales data situation?

Well you guys effectively killed the Xbox fanbase on the website.

Hope it was worth it.

Edit: How about permabanning every member who has Vizioneck in their sig. /sarcasm

Indeed. Jaywood was all there was to the XBox fanbase.

Aren't you greatly underestimating the members of this fanbase? Surely, there's more to the XBox fanbase than just... him. -__-

In essence the planned project is a site with articles, reviews, sales data and forums which amounts to a complete clone of VGC. As for ioi, we did have contact with him but the last email from him was a while ago.

That's not relevant. Jay broke the rules and continued to do so despite getting warned about it so in the end the mods really didn't have much choice. I very much doubt that the mod team wanted this to happen.

^this

It's not like it was a surprise to him. He was warned about it before, but he kept doing it.

Too bad, he was a good member of this community.

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

I'll miss Jay . We've already had two users perma banned in the past two days alone that's a tragedy. Both were breaking the rules though.
