Don't bother, there was never really a debate in the first place. Mods just felt like toying with us for a bit, giving us a slim hope that they could be reasoned with.

Let us turn this around for a moment.

All that has changed is that existing rules and common sense are now able to be enforced, given our newfound access to site code.

What is it you feel the site would gain by allowing not safe for work content to be freely displayed in all forums?

You say we cannot be reasoned with, but you seem to have focused very heavily on how oppresive we are, rather than arguments in favour of not safe for work usernames being retained (i.e. what the site and community would gain from these names being permitted, and what they lose from them being outlawed).

He is upset jizz is plannin on leaving if he doesnt get his name back.  That is where the rhetoric is coming from.  So yes, it is about the usernames...

I like JBTP, I hope he stays.

But this is an open and shut case. In a great many of the countries from where we draw users, that name is NSFW, and NSF children. That includes my country.

We finally have the means to change usernames, and JBTP, as with others I am sure, is being offered the opportunity to change his name. Nothing about this is oppressive, dictatorial (I mean...come on) or in anyway contrary to common sense.

Read Smeags' latest post in here, second paragraph, last sentence. That tells us what we've feared to be the case is truth.

Did you click on the link in the last sentence?

Ummm...what have we feared?

That this is not a democracy is self-evident, as it is with every other forum on the internet (not just video games) that I know of.

I started my days on these forums as an over-zealous Xbox fan. If it was a democracy, I wouldn't have survived. For that matter, there wouldn't be any Xbox fans at all on the site, we'd all have been voted off the island.

Pardon me if this is an assumption on my part, but it feels like you've just been handed a microphone and asked to back up your comments and criticisms, only to turn and run off the stage.

Not really sure what you're going on about, as no most sites definitely do not have as restrictive and unreasonable mods, and I'm generally the one asking you mods to explain yourselves with you constantly dodging and ignoring points, but hey, Smeags has finally come clean for yal, admitting that nothing we say ever mattered, so with that we're done here!

And yes Axum I did see your post before you edited, very tactful n mature it was I must say! Pointless trying to use a ban as a threat though since it's not like I couldn't live without this site or something, but don't worry I wont be here much longer either way!

Again - what is restrictive or unreasonable about doing our best to maintain a safe for work and safe for children environment? We have NSFW sections where you can post just about anything shy of outright porn or gore.

You're several posts in, and still dancing around having to actually explain:

- What is it you feel the site would gain by allowing not safe for work content to be freely displayed in all forums?

- What is it the site loses by restricting this type of content purely to NSFW areas?

At this point going on and on about restrictive and unreasonable behaviour, pretending that we don't and have never listened to user feedback without providing evidence, all while avoiding answering these questions - makes it seem like even you doubt your own convictions.

:)  The reason I made the threat to ban you is because instead of being open to conversation, you were jumping up and down and throwing a fit.

Threatening to ban people for talking about an issue in this thread makes the whole thread kind of pointless don't you think? I mean you guys outlawed us from talking about moderation everywhere but this thread and now you guys don't want us talking about it here either. I'd rather you guys be honest and just admit you don't want any discussion over moderation if that's going to be the case. We're not idiots.

And putting smiley faces in your posts just makes it look condescending.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Mainly because I want my name changed to Chris_Benoits_Boner and I probably can't have that now :(

Trucks hasn't posted yet, but it doesn't matter. He can of course still post for completion's sake, but it's pretty clear where things are heading.

Now on to the third and final step.
