Is consoles sale gonna be the barometer for them? I think it's pretty clear. Most people are fed up with Microsoft's dog and pony show and had enough. From people on the internet and people I've talked to you, enough is enough. Tomb Raider exclusivity and most likely involved in some way with Unity resolutiongate among the other anti-consumer decisions they made. How do people feel about them? I'm pretty confident in saying I won't be buying a Xbox One after being a 360/PS3 last gen. Do you think this will be Microsoft's last console?

Microsoft will be around longer than you and your children's children. Sony might be gone within 10-15 years though. Gaming will end up all digital and streaming during gen 9 and everything will be playable on a smart TV or tablet. Except Nintendo games, they'll keep being a gen behind until they fire iwata.

ROFL, Nintendo seems to me, imo the first company to leave the console market IF their next console flops. If that is the case I think they will stay with handheld....

PlayStation is a given considering sony needs the division and other reasons

MS will always be relevant. Xbox... I don't know really, but with the way they've been doing lately, the faster they leave the better. They brought a lot of good things to gaming, and moved it forward, but for many years they've done nothing that benefits gaming and in fact, they've done a lot of bad.

I don't see them as any worse than Sony.

They're not. People just adjust their perspective. Helps them justify their purchase and sleep comfortable at night.
