Microsoft are hurting big time with all their deals like COD. Not getting the expeted returns in revenue at all.

Sony's early risk is the same as MS early risk of dropping the price and removing kinnect. Only difference is Sony's risk worked for them.  This was my opinion, no need to argue if you disagree because I'm sticking with it.

You're choice of when they should take the risk makes less sense than when i suggested it. IE before they decided to make an inferior console which was more about media than games.

The CoD deal is a non-issue. MS and Sony will use big titles to market their hardware just like last gen.

No, Sony take massive losses to move hardware is not the same MS removing Kinect and lowering the price. Removing Kinect wasn't a risk, it was a logical move they should have did at launch. Your opinion is flawed.

Again, when the hardware was finalized they should have been competitive with price to stay competitive. That's something they didn't do.

This is a silly discussion. We both agree MS made mistakes. Yet you're arguing with me like I'm defending them. I'm critical of MS for not being more competitive with their inferior hardware.

MS is allowed to make inferior hardware whether you like it or not. But they should be more competitive with price given the circumstances.

yes we both agree but i disagree with you nitpicking where they should have done it differently. There were more effective ways they could have improved them. Your way is just one of the many things they needed to do and if losing money for them wasn't an issue as you say they would have done it your way and my way. But like every business they set out to make a profit.

I'm not nitpicking at all. Price is what made it so easy for PS4 to get the sales edge. The X1 didn't launch for the same price as PS4, it was more expensive. That was a ridiculous move and people should have been fired for that.

They could have made a profit in the long run selling X1 for $299 or maybe even $349. Now they're wasting money trying to keep the Xbox brand relevant. My feeling is MS should have sacrificed money early on and make it back from software and subscriptions. Instead, MS chased away market share and is now spending money to keep the Xbox brand relevant. So MS lost money regardless AND market share.

They could possibly have made more of a profit but they could have just as easily have made even less. Who's to say Sony wouldn't match the drop and absolutely whip them even more in sales.

The price was not the only thing that made it easy for people to choose PS4. The DRM fiasco and the weaker specs were a huge talking point. Easily as big as price if not more.

Honestly, I don't think Sony could afford to price match $299 if MS attempted it with X1. But I'm just speculating.

Again, all those reasons you mention is more of a reason they should have been more competitive with price. They should have done something drastic to keep their market share. MS took no risks and their launch was a disaster.

If the X1 can achieve a userbase of 40 million lifetime, I'd be impressed. Because they're gonna have to be very competitive to achieve that.

It would be pretty funny if all of the money MS spent money hating the game was a complete waste.

Exactly what I'm trying to tell the gentleman aboe. Everybody talked about it being an xbox series and now I'm pointing out how that has now changed.

Yeah I am agreeing with you.  I was just trying to add to the general conversation.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Sony is already profiting quite a bit off of the PS4 so don't be surprised if they stay aggressive and drop the price just as much if not more than the Xbox One in order to bury it.

For instance if MS dropped the price to $350, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony dropped the PS4 to $300.

i fully agree with you eddie but is the PS3 not still 299? I know it's because it's still selling very well so they want to maximise profits but jesus christ they can't have last and current gen almost the same price! After the holidays they need to give the PS3 a big price cut and have a proper gap betwee it and the PS4.

It was a PS2 series before switching to 360 for most of last gen but it's now officially (according to vgchartz) a playstation franchise again!

Call of Duty ghosts sales:

PS3 - 9.06M

Xbox 360 - 8.99M

PS4 - 2.67M

Xbox One - 2.03M

So Sony is winning the last gen and next gen COD battle and without the advertising or exclusive content!

So will Sony keep the majority of the COD crowd for Advanced Warfare? It's hard to see how it won't. PS4 has greatly increased it's lead since Ghosts released and will do so even more in 2015. PS3 has sold more than the 360 in the last year but that effect should be minimal.

Has the Kings last fort fallen or was that a once off blip?

Well, the only console that has COD bundles is the Xbox, so things may change this year. But i wont be suprised if the PS4 version outsells the XB1 version (since there are more PS4 users). All trailers and gameplay have been from the XB1 version right?

yeah all xbox advertising. I reckon the Xbox versions of COD will take the USA easily especially 360 vs PS3. But worldwide the PS4 and maybe PS3 again should take the COD  crown. The tide has turned afterall.

It seems the PS3 is $200-$250.  Yeah if they drop the PS4's price to $300, I am sure they will drop the 12GB PS3 to $150 or so.  The real question is what will happen to the Wii U?!
