Huh? That's exactly what they do. And a proportion of people buy it. If we consider the player base of console games from last gen to be 220 million (260 million total sales, but a fair bit of multi-console ownership) and best sales CoD ever managed was 28 million (29.7 million minus the PC sales). That means at most 12.7% of console gamers were brainwashed in to believing CoD's bullshit. And of course not everyone bought CoD because of some brainwashy marketing technique. They bought it because they had fun with past versions and were confident they would have fun with the next version.

Seriously, if the govt can only brainwash 13% of the population into believing some bullshit security measure or bit of military tech (drone strikes) is "for the greater good" they're fucked. They need at least 40% acceptance and preferrably over 50%. So in reality CoD's brainwashing technique is a lesson in how not to brainwash the masses, because the masses were not brainwashed.
